http://soccernet.espn.go.com/players/stats?id=41952&cc=5901 There is a conspiracy among the goalkeepers of the Eredivisie. They have heard that Michael Bradley is Bob Bradley's son, so they have let this stiff score 12 goals on them in league competition this year. Also, 1 guy in the Dutch Cup did too. The movement has even spread elsewhere in Europe, as keepers in UEFA Cup competition found out and let him put 2 past them too. I, for one, am disgusted. What will Bob Bradley not stoop to in trying to force his untalented son into the national team set-up? Maurice Edu would have scored 50 goals in Holland this season. He's older than Bradley -- Why have they not brought him over yet? Dutch scouts are idiots. (Don't get me wrong, I do love me some Maurice Edu. Go Maryland.)
Zero assists in 22 Dutch Eredivisie games so far this season at H'veen? He's had 51 opportunities to get an assist (H'veen currently with 63 goals scored), and M.Bradley has failed to register an assist on any of those? If that zero assists total this season is correct, that's astonishing.
Correct me if I'm wrong but assists are only marked if the scorer scores a goal in two touches? To me that stat is more important for wide midfielders then it is for them in the center.
The Nepotism arguments need to be reinvented: it's not, "Michael Bradley is on the team because his dad is the coach." Rather, it's, "USSF gave Bob Bradley the USMNT coaching gig in exchange for his son agreeing to play for the USA."
As recently as this summer I was still arguing that M Bradley had a ways to go, I'd criticized several aspects of his game (thinking a step behind, hence the late tackles, looking down at his feet too much under pressure), and I'd compared him unfavorably to Feilhaber. As of a half-season into Eredivisie, I stand corrected. Quite emphatically. He's becoming a beautifully complete sort of player, a midfielder that moves and passes forward with purpose and has defensive bite, work-rate and positioning to his game. Are people still arguing this? Upon what freakin' basis? I'm not throwing around the word "Gerrard," I think at this point that's pure hyperbole, but c'mon people!
If this is not an assist I don't what is thanks to Johann Derksen for this gif Some great skill on display by MB
What's with all the people on BS always crying about a player's speed. Why don't we just play the USA track team if that is the most important part of soccer. The funniest part is when people rate a player for a game. They will say a player is STILL slow. No s#it. Didn't know you can just become fast all of a sudden
There is no "lack of speed," so it cannot be an issue. It can become one should lack of speed emerge.
Agreed.. look at Johann Smith and Jozy Altidore. Smith is by far faster but Jozy appears as if he is going to be the better player. Speed is important, but it's overrated. Especially by Bigsoccer people
If we put him in a role where he's required to regularly take on defenders 1v1, or man mark guys while isolated, then yes. But that is not his role. He doesn't lack speed for his role.
I'm wondering now who the slowest guy is on the team? Dempsey? Bocanegra? Onyewu? Bradley? Feilhaber? Califf? Pierce?

I thought Bradley was mediocre, atleast for the USMNT team and not good enough to warrant all his starts. If Bob had started him now, and gave him playing time I wouldn't care, as he's earned it. He seems to be a better player and is definitely Mr. Johnny on the spot at the moment. Now, get rid of those yellows and reds from 07' plus late tackles and I won't have any problems with him in the lineup. But if you look at Twellman's stats, he's pretty damn impressive so like someone here before it has to transfer to the USMNT. Speed is an issue in soccer just like any other sport but golf, though not the most important. I'd bet Tiger Woods is the fastest golfer though.
That's what I'm saying. Twellman has been lighting up MLS for years. That's the same as Holland. Ajax? Hello! Ever heard of the Houston Dynamo? I've got your Clockwork Orange right here! PSV? The poor man's Kansas City Wizards! And CONCACAF Champions' League is at least as tough as the UEFA Cup. Here's some teams you don't have to contend with in the UEFA Cup: Joe Public, baby. Motagua FC. Harbour View United. Step to that! (Wait, did Twellman actually play in it?) Plus Twellman's got so much more upside for 2010. Michael Bradley peaked at "useless" the moment he was born. In addition to all that extra upside, Twellman's got much more experience too. Not World Cup experience, but experience. Life experience. You know I love you Taylor. Go Terps!
