3. Chris Armas. After his comeback from an ACL injury this season, Armas has garnered a spot in my all-time MLS Best XI. I’ve probably received more emails through the years from fans who think I gush too much about how great a player Chris is, but I stand by it all. It is Armas’ will to win that drives the Fire and it’s his will that makes it hard for me to believe anyone is going to beat them in these next two weeks. I’ll go ahead and drive home the point that always leads to the e-mails. Chris Armas is about so much more than “hustle and hard work.” He has the best head for the game in MLS. He never takes a night off. He pushes his teammates without rubbing any of them the wrong way. Finally, he will reclaim his starting spot for the U.S. National Team when qualifying commences.

I thought reading this pre-season thread was sort of funny because many thought SJ and Chi would struggle if not miss the playoffs and at least one poster had them ranked 9th and 10th. I thought Bradley was nuts to pick Chicago fourth.

I also argued with Bradley about Armas in the past, but my main beef was his comparison to Pareja -- which maybe I misinterpreted. I still think as great as Armas is in MLS, his limitations become more evident on the international stage.
