No we don't. First, the league is selling our world class keeper. And since they author all contracts we won't have to give San Jose shizit.

Second, we are Metro. The league office is our bitch.

Wrong on both accounts, but one is what I will concetrate on. San Jose still holds the rights to Cannon, much like we did for Paule. Since Cannon did not re-sign with the league (much like Metro not exercising the rights on Paule or Williams), the Quakes still have his rights. So we need to cut a deal with them to sign him.

I'd rather go with this Dulcich guy and hold on to our team and allocation than go with Cannon and have to give something away.

If Cannon really wants to come here (and not return to SJ), and Metro really want him as our new #1 keeper, I don't think we'll have to give up too much to get him. Perhaps we'll have to part with a draft pick. Either way, we'll have to use our allocation as all of our discovery picks have been used (am I correct in that assumption?). Getting Cannon would be worth giving up a pick.

Wah? Have you seen Dulcich play? I know I haven't. I know what Cannon can do. Allocations aren't worth what they used too, and I would glady give up some conditiontal draft picks to SJ to get Cannon.

Fair enough, I guess I just implicitly trust Bradley that if he picked Dulcich, he was good.

But conditional picks to SJ -- what picks do we have left to give?

I would say give them the allocations we got when Balboa and Ramos retired. Opps, forgot , we did not get any. OK, lets give them the draft pick we are supposed to get from Chicago for Andy Williams.

Valderama retires and he is worth an allocation, yet Ramos and Balboa aren't even though we traded to get Balboa and both were salary max type of guys. I don't get it. Maybe we can get Canon for nothing or minimal conditional pick since we can't get back equal value in losing Tim Howard no matter what at this point in the season.

Didn't Cannon actually beat Howard out for keeper of year last year?? whether or not he is 'as good' doesn't matter, he is a great keeper....I think that would be a decent pick up...no matter what picks or allocations we had to part with...and he would come cheaper too......sounds good.

From what I remember, Timmy was keeper of 2002, but Cannon made the 2002 Best XI.

I know, it doesn't make any sense.

It was the other way around. Howard was on the 2002 MLS Best XI while Cannon won 2002 Keeper of the Year.

Timmy won both honors in 2001.

Cannon would be a great option, as far as MLS related/available keepers are concerned, he is the next best thing. Put it this way, we would still have the best keeper in the league.

Also, read once that Cannon thought Metro fans were the best. The question was worded "other than your own fans" but lets be real casbah.

Veronica needs her own site...hell, even channel....24 hrs of tight tops, pants, and sweet little ramblings about absolutely nothing at all.

Nothing against Joe but Timmy will be the future National Team keeper soon and he was worth 3 Million to play for Man U, not JC so i think we should make out on this deal without a straight swap of compensation. Especially since it is done in the middle of our Championship season with our team and possible league MVP.

PS she does have a nice set of eyes

    Why???

We have had a good run so far but, it is WAY too early to call it our championship season.
Tim has played great...but, both of those honors right now would go to Eddie Pope in my book.

First, what is Cannon pointing at? And second, where is Veronica's right hand?

Put yourselves in SJ's position. You would want nothing less than an UNCONDITIONAL first round pick. I don't see them settling for anything less.

"A couple of MLS teams are interested but I'd like to stay in France if I can." -- Joe Cannon, as quoted in MLS Confidential.

He could be saying this just to squeeze some more money out of MLS.

Whether or not he stays in France is not entirely up to him, someone has to want him.

But it may not be an automatic that he is coming to the Metros.

I don't think the Nerfquakes will have much leverage for a player that will never play for them again. Then again, Canon is worth a first round pick, considering we don't have one next year. I can see the league and the Nerfs accepting a coupple mid level picks for him.

How about Jaime Moreno as compensation for Cannon? And then have San Jose send the Metros a few draft picks. Big time salary dump, if you get my drift.

Moreno hasn't been worth a damn since '99, and shows no signs of being interested in being good anymore.

Without Timmy's and Jaime's salaries ($540,000 by my estimate), Bob could do some pretty good shopping, eh?
