"Coach Bradley said it was nothing against me as a player or anything like that," said Davis, who posted four goals and three assists in 24 games to become a Rookie of the Year finalist. "They wanted certain things for their team and there was interest out there for me. So it worked it best for them to get what they needed."

For the Metros, that player was Mike Magee, the U-20 star from Chicago who Bradley had in training as a youth player on several occasions when he was with the Fire.

"Our move was less about Brad and more about Magee," said Metros G.M. Nick Sakiewicz. "Brad is a tremendous player and he did well and it's unfortunate we lost him, but fortunate that we got the guy we wanted."

Sakiewicz revealed on Wednesday that a number of teams had an interest in him, so he wasn't sure where he'd end up. The Metros were looking to restock the roster with several young players, and to do that meant making deals.

What made Davis so valuable on a team with so many middle-ranged salaries was that his salary was low and his upside was high.

Later in the article it goes on to say that Jeffries may have plans to get Davis involved in the central midfield. I'm curious to see how that would turn out. I hear that Davis played in the middle of the field before turning pro but I'm only familiar with his play on the wing last year for the Metros.

Davis was usually found out wide on the left side, and sometimes as forward.
