Lots of wonderment about Cisse being on the bench. He's probably not match fit, and when's the last time he scored a goal when starting?

Martin Tyler just cursed us. He pointed out that Crouch hasn't scored in 14app/8yrs against us.

If you had 2.5 minutes since the comment in the goal pool, YOU WON!

we are playing too deep and wide. Are our forwards under orders to stand on the penalty spot an wait for a cross in?

    oh look Cisse's on

Sissoko might as well be playing for Stoke as much as he has passed it to them or turned the ball over today.

Krul just bailed out his horrible D

How much did they pay for Cabella again?

Dire straits. I don't think there's anyone out there who can save us from the drop.

    Thx,

    Jay!

    few points:
    1. Timidity/Risk avoidance--aside from Tiote doing what he is supposed to do there was zero courage to try and do something, anything, desperate or not, in the final third. Anything would have been useful.

    2. Cabella--again HE NEEDS SOMEONE TO PLAY OFF OF/WITH GODDAMMIT and NOT ON THE WING. He needs to play in the center and have the ability to pass to and with someone else to settings up. On the wings he is just another HBA, without the mercurial tendencies. He is beginning to resemble Marveaux and is being Pardewed quite quickly.

    3. Athleticism--again, we ran and ran and ran and ran and possessed.... but for what? Sissoko so is emblematic of this point; he's powerful can be physical, but has no head for what he does, he reacts and as he tires he makes mistakes; and so do we as a team. Possession does mean shite if you can't do anything with it in the final third; or if all you are doing is getting the ball back just after you passed it to the other team...

    4. Oh look Squidward actually provided a decent cross!! It did get a little colder in here yeah? To be fair he had ACRES of space and I could have made that cross.

    5. 4-5-1, 4-2-3-1, lone man up on a pole, whatever, Im calling it Pardew's Midfield Dump. Its where you just pack everyone in and have them dog pile on the ball whilst defending then try and pass it through said dog pile to go on the attack. Oh and then when it careens out to the wing and your wingback actually gets it and goes to cross to...nobody ; they are all buried in said dog pile. It never ends well with this formation.

    5. Cisse as a super sub--I'd have though that it would work! Buuuuut only if you dont move a winger with pace and not much else into the #10 position Alan. Gouffran spent most of his time dropping back into nothing until...

    6. Sameobi came on! Touches of decency, but as the point/pinnacle of the Midfield Dump Dog Pile™ nobody was up top there to take advantage. Even Cisse who was buried somewhere under Sissoko and to the left of Tiote's armpit and Colback's left thigh

7.Was Armstrong available? After big upping him as one who could unlock defenses in the Cup I surely would have though he would have appeared even briefly. But sadly no Pardew just being Pardew. Stick to the ol' boys with lungs, legs and no heeds roit Pards?

    8. Forwards playing like they have ebola and the vaccination is sitting on the penalty spot. When we had possession in the final third please take note of the wide gap between the forwards and the ball on the wings. It was so great you would have thought the forwards were infected and would run for the antidote at the penalty spot and were so incredibly contagious that nobody wanted to come in an help them out. Well to be fair Cisse WAS recovering from a "Virus"

    9. There is absolutely no tactical leadership at all with this team, at all. Sure we now have a few corner kick set piece plays but still there is no offensive leadership/creativity/inspiration aside from Run and Gun and Spray and Spray. None whatsoever.

    10. This was Pardew's chance to really show the Premiership he knows what he is doing and he sent out a defensive, tactically inflexible team whose only idea is to run about fighting for the ball, and once they get it,...well your guess is a good as mine. Stoke were terrible. They are a terrible team; we were MUCH better in every metric. Replacing Riviere with Cisse was stupid. He dropped a winger into the #10 position because...energy! Yeah that's it. This is relegation form; and quite frankly Im not gonna blame the team because had Colback shot gone in, or Sissoko or Colback marked Moses better, we would have come out of that with a 0-0 tie at least. But luck wasn't with us; and in the absence of luck we have nothing.

As much as I want Pardew gone, in all honesty, our club will remain a disappointment as long as Ashley is involved.

sadly this is true. We do have more kits than points this season, apparently there is a fourth kit on the way. shows you where Ashley's priorities lie.

Pardew is only part of the problem at United. The Toon is completely dysfunctional and has been for donkey's years, but mostly since Ashley came in. No serious manager would take Pardew's place whilst Ashley is in charge.

I beg to differ on that last point and I'll put it this way: No ENGLISH/ex PL manager would take his place. There are piles of Continental and Latin American clubs whose owners direct everything except what happens on the pitch between the the touchlines during official play; and that's all they leave to the manager.

Follow a Serie A, B or Primera League club for long enough and you'll find examples of owners who make Ashley look like a model club owner who cares about his "investment" beyond the profits.
