Playing the village of the damned... on Halloween? The fixture computer certainly has a sense of humour. This is our biggest game of the season thus far.

On the football side, we have been abysmal at home, we've only managed to win one home game this season - there is not a better time to change that. The unwashed have been pretty good so far especially defensively, only Chelsea have a better record at keeping goals out. A lot of this is down to Bramble, the prevailing opinion amongst Mackems I know is that he has been their best player by far. Who'd have thought it eh? Hopefully a return to SJP will bring him back to the Shambles we all knew. Although he did score against us the last time he was here with Wigan.

In team news, Campbell is said to be "touch and go" so we'll probably start with Williamson and Coloccini in defence, shame because I'd like Sol's experience in for this one. Something very similar to what we saw at West Ham is likely.

Richardson is back from injury for them but probably won't get in ahead of Bardsley, and Gyan could possibly start for them. Bent is their threat though, if he doesn't score Sunderland struggle to score, keeping him quiet is vital.

This is all but sold out and should be a typical Tyne-Wear derby. Defeat is unacceptable.

Cattermole and Barton could head up against each other in midfield... 'kin hell that'll be interesting. Two red cards then?

    Howay the lads!

Man oh man is this a big one. Not only does it tell the future of our club in this league, but it could very well hold the fate of one Chris Hughton.

I'd imagine we go with a 4-4-2 with AC and Ameobi up top, and the usual suspects in the middle of the park. Barton Tiote, Jonas and Nolan again on the wings. Same back four as usual.

Going to need a big match from all our lads, and probably a big performance from one of the two up top.

Last time this fixture was being played I had to watch it in the Netherlands. Wish I were back there for this one too...probably not going to be able to catch it live.

    Howay the lads!

I tend to agree, he seems to get along well with Ashley (ie Ashley doesn't get much stick from him) and he did incredibly well last season. But a loss at home this weekend and one or two more bad results and you never know. Modern football is nuts.

Hey, where is the pic of monkeys in the Mackems jersey? I thought that was a stable for these derby matches?!?!?!

So looking forward to this. Hoping I can find a stream tomorrow. Gonna be so pissed if I can't.

Simpson's alert play transitioning into attack, and then playing a decent ball into Carroll, reallly highlights Perch's limitations.

    OH WHAT A GOAL!

With a bicycle kick while laying on his back, Nolan lobs the keeper and puts us up 1-0.

Make that two for Captain Nolan.

Great off the ball check by an offside Shola to keep a defender off of Nolan.

But, Nolan desperately needs dancing lessons... Something hot and salsa flavoured to celebrtate a derby brace is in order.

Nolan tied with Drogba and Berbs for goals. Huh, who'd a thunk?

I thought Jonas flopped but that was a good penalty call.

Shola comes close to putting it outside the goal but manages not to ******** it up.

Sham-eobi should have let Nolan get the hat trick and take that PK.

Loving the 3-0 HT lead, but that was a weak PK call. This guy is calling ticky tacky stuff.

He must have figured it out because I'm shocked their wasn't a card on the penalty.

Not a week penalty when you see it from behind. He clearly tripped him in the box. Absolutely the right call. Shitty defending.

    3-0 to the Toon!

    God, this feels good.

Nice to see someone elses team absolutely fall apart for a change!

3 - 0 into the half, now would be the time to bring on Ranger/Vukcic. Any cards they get would be meaningless, and the experience would be invaluable. Too bad Vukcic isn't on the bench.

    Krul is getting great experience.
When Harper is back fit, he will have a fight on his hands to get back in the team, especially if we are in the right half of the table. If Krul gets benched automaticlly, he will have every right to seek another team.
