Over Chuck Norris?! The Boyd legend grows! In all seriousness, psyched to see Boyd in a pressure packed game. I'm off to find a stream in German.
My stream at ATDHE is just crowd noise, which is pretty awesome. Games a little sloppy and being played at a fast pace. Rapid is doing most of the pushing forward and Boyd is active making his runs but nobody has found him yet. JUST as a type that he gets the ball in the box, gets pushed wide and gets off a lefty shot to earn a corner.
Sunny and 83 degrees according to weather.com. Plenty of shirtless fans. Looks like a nice day in Vienna.
Games pretty good to watch; Boyd with a nice turn and shot to earn a corner. Seems like the game is pretty physical with some hard challenges going back and forth, ref is cool letting a lot of it go though. Interesting.
Austria is up big on Rapid. Now 3-0, with chants of "Auf Wiedersehen" raining down from the guest fans. Rapid's defense was taken apart on several occasions, and the passing on offense in the last third lacked a lot of precision.
Well, Rapid lose 0-3 to Austria. Boyd had one shot of the post but was relatively anonymous for the rest of the second half. Not helped by Rapid's bad built up play. Too many balls hoofed long and high.
Every time I read Vienna, I hear my deep south patients talking about Vy-eena sausages they eat for snacks every day. Tough day for the home fans. Is this a big rivalry for Rapid? Is this result a shocking defeat for those who know Austrian football?
Biggest derby there is in Austria by far. Not necessarily a huge shock that Rapid was defeated, more the way it happened, with Rapid looking very toothless upfront and confused in defense.
Two things: I so remember the days of Vy-eena sausages growing up in MS & KY.brings back memories of elementary school! Secondly, this is a HUGE rivalry; the biggest in Austria, I believe. They are crosstown enemies and have 55 championships between them. Rapid collecting 32 and Austria 23. They fight each other on and off the pitch every season. Intense doesn't explain it.
