http://www.reuters.com/newsArticle....CRBAELCFEY?type=focusIraqNews&storyID=2446136 BERLIN (Reuters) - No more Coca-Cola or Budweiser, no Marlboro, no American whiskey or even American Express cards -- a growing number of restaurants in Germany are taking everything American off their menus to protest the war in Iraq. Although the protests are mainly symbolic, waiters in dozens of bars and restaurants in Hamburg, Berlin, Munich, Bonn and other German cities are telling patrons, "Sorry, Coca-Cola is not available any more due to the current political situation."
This goes too far. I'm gonna organize a boycott of all the sick internet p*rn germany exports. That'll bring them to their senses.
Not related to Germany, but speaking of going too far and being a complete idiot in the process ( read the transcript, I find it hilarious): http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,81280,00.html And I won't mention "freedom fries", "freedom toast", etc...Oh, I just did.
The Bud in Europe is not the same as the Bud over here. The Bud in Europe is brewed in Ireland and doesn't suck as bad. Still, why you'd drink anything but German beer in Germany is beyond me. Must be Amercian tourists and GIs.
For Budweiser?!?!? You should buy motor oil for that price. It's probably cheaper and definitely tastes better.
That's like saying getting stabbed isn't as bad as getting shot. It may be true, but it's still not pretty.
It's notsomuch that as it is people trying to look cool. It's from America. Look at all the people here that drink Heineken. God knows they don't drink it because it taste good.
The real Budweiser is brewed in Czech Republic, in the city of Ceske Budejovice, the German name for which is Budweis. The American product of the same name is, of course, a cheap fake, the quality of which make it very, very easy to boycott.
Yeah yeah yeah. I love when idiots want to point this out like nobody knows it. Budweiser is the greatest thing that ever happened to Budvar. Without this controversy, Budvar would be nothing.
Yet true nonetheless. Heineken in America is skunked and stale. It always has been - it always will be. It just isn't a pleasant beer to drink.
Advertising works just as well over there as over here. *sigh* Bud also sometimes cheaper than the good stuff. So maybe I should ammend my previous statement to "American tourists, GIs and college kids and other people drinking for quantity and not quality." OK?
A Soldier and a Patriot In defense of my country, I have delayed a planned purchase of a Dachshund (sp?).
