Boy Dies Playing 'Passing Out Game,' Officials Believe Add me to the list of people saying "what the ****?!" Things I did for a rush as a kid: Jumped off the swings at the height of the swing forward a couple times (several of which ended badly). Street-luged down my block on a skateboard. Biked and rollerbladed down our version of "The Devils Backbone." Sniffed a marker once. Jumped from high sand dunes into a lake. Never choked another kid.
I blame the Bush administration. Seriously, though... this is the result our culture is having on our children.
Jesus, I never did this sort of thing when I was a kid. Just awful sort of stuff. Can't we just go back to the days when sniffing glue was horrible?
This is what you get when you let your children play outside. I've never heard of a kid dying from playing Xbox.
I was going to write something about it helping out the species' gene pool (Idaho being the Mecca of the Darwin Awards), but then I simply couldn't get over the fact that it was just a 10 year old boy (my own son being just 5) and am now just miserable thinking about the colossal waste of innocent life.
I'm surprised... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . People live in Idaho? I knew about the potatoes, but people? Seriously, what a tragedy. I've never heard of such a thing. The worst stunt we ever pulled as kids was jumping off the back deck with an umbrella hoping to float.
It's kinda silly to hear people say 'well, the worst I ever did as a kid was....'. Cuz the kids who frequently played childhood games like 'passing out', 'playing hide'n'seek and hiding in an old refrigerator', 'look at daddy's cool toy gun I found in his nightstand', and 'ride our bikes into traffic' - well, not many of those kids are around to contribute to today's discussion. (Dammit, now I got that Jim Carrol song stuck in my head right now)
some poor kid from my HS died in his dorm room from doing this. poor kid was found with his pants around his ankles when they keyed into his room..
social darwinism..... the kid who eats too many marbles doesn't get to grow up and have kids of his own.
The passing out game, I've never done it but I've seen people who have. One girl starting shaking apparently during it but she was fine I guess, she was at practice later that day
