    Disappointing.

    Let’s see what Zidane does...

I think we kinda need him more than anything. Our defensive shape is much better and he has shown hustle when he has played this season, and we could use his creativity right now. We have 3 clean sheets in 3 games, which is phenomenal given how our season has started, but we also only scored 3 goals in 3 games.

No I'm not only because Mendy is a French, Zizou purchase. He may not be starting all the big games right away but no way he becomes another Ordiozola under ZZ.

Sad but true. He is the longest serving foreign player in the club. He is the club's greatest bargain purchase in the last 10 years. He gives his best. But his end is near.... it is inevitable.

I will write later when he finally leaves.... he deserves a good farewell for the fans.

He was a worthy successor to Roberto Carlos, which is some achievement.

    We've been truly lucky.

I dont think Mendy ends up bringing the same quality.

Mendy has proven to be super reliable though.

Maybe not offensively, but Mendy is a damn good LB and I venture he'll be here for a very long time.

    Agreed.

On top of that, Marcelo was a generational player who somehow was still underrated after all. It's unfair to compare Mendy to Marcelo at this point.

Marcelo is one of the best left backs in the history of the sport. He deserves all the respect in the world.

I still think he has a roll to play in this current team as well. He can definitely help come on as a late sub when we are in search of a goal...

Thanks for everything Marcelo but I'm in love with another man. Mendy is a beast.

Marcelo still has an important role for this club, even if not as our main starter at LB anymore...

Peak Marcelo has a goat level case, but I hope he leaves this summer. I don’t feel comfortable defensively anymore whenever he plays. I hope we see Mendy and Reguilon compete

We should be going into next season with Mendy and Reguilon as our left backs. Definitely.

But Marcelo could potentially still find a role here. I’m sure he is still a very important character to have in the squad. He is still one of our leaders, and he still can be, it doesn’t have to be on the pitch. I also think he is a very good influence on the Brazilians. And the young players in general. He was one of them. And he went to win it all.

Think of Arbeloas last season. He was obviously loved, and he had a big influence, but played very little. Those players are still very important to have. Perhaps he could find minutes higher up the pitch. Or even as part of a middle 3. Coming off the bench in a high pressure game to help shore things up.

Or maybe I am just reluctant to say bye to the guy.

Keep pushing this legend to pick up some form. He’s still good enough to unlock a defense. Luxury player to have in the squad as a second option and as a leader especially with all this young talent around.

Marcelo and Ramos must be kept as long as possible even if they are back ups.

Leaders are exceedingly difficult to replace. Ask Man U, Arsenal ....even Barca.

Why doesn't Real ask Marcelo to play LM and play a proper LB behind him? He can slightly track back on defense, but he is a hell of an attacking threat down the left. He is no longer any sort of defender though based on his play last night.

Marcelo doesn't want to play in an advanced position.

It's insane he feels this way however he only wants to attack and seems disinterested in defending and especially tracking

I want to see Marcelo cut in from the right wing and take shots, with his ability on the ball i bet he'd be a nightmare for any left back in the world, Marcelo and Carvajal on the same flank.....one can dream.

It’s easier to attack from fullback position. You have a winger marking you instead of a defender, and you have more space as well as being able to see the whole field ahead of you.

Does he still have aspirations to play in the Brazilian NT as a LB? Maybe that's why???
And the Brazilian NT is probably the only NT that will forgive such a careless defensive LB...
