For what will probably be their final African Cup of Nations match, Bouna Coundoul got the start in goal for Senegal against South Africa.

South Africa scored in the 13th miinute, apparently due to bad marking by the Senegal defense.

Thank God for YouTube and the Fox Soccer Report, otherwise we'd never get to see the highlights from this game. Best of luck to Bouna.

At least MLS schedules its season around the African Nations Cup, as opposed to those thoughtless European teams.

Rumor has it that the European leagues may move to the "international schedule" before long, though.

the Senagalese must really be hurting for a goalie cause bouna is brutal. He has good reflexes but that's it.

watching this game, i'd disagree 100%. 2nd half he's been tested and has made 3 magnificent saves. this most recent one (78th min or so) the announcers are calling the save of the tournament. and really, i haven't seen any better in the games i've seen-- i don't know how he even got to that one!

Win, Lose or Draw, CONGRATULATIONS COUNDOUL! Bouna Time in a big way. He should be proud and at the same time MLS should be proud of making him into a big time keeper for his national team.

Not just MLS, but the American soccer system.

Bouna played HS, club and college ball here before joining MLS.

It should also be noted that Bouna - like Jimmy Conrad, Joe Cannon, Bobby Boswell, Troy Perkins, Nat Borchers and Jon Busch - was undrafted coming out of college.

Shows just how far we still have to go in terms of scouting in the US.

Watched the second half. The injury that held up the game was not to Bouna; it was to South African goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs.

Bouna wasn't very aggressive off his line, and had a few miscommunications with his defense (probably just unfamiliar with them), but made several highlight-reel saves.

MLS sux. They can't even develop a keeper decent enough to get suspended for doing a bone headed thing like breaking curfew before a tourney deciding game.

I kid, I Kid. Congrats to Bouna. You've done us proud, son. You've done us proud.

nice stuff. even had the won, the draw in the other group match assured that both Senegal and South Africa were not advancing.

To be fair, he looked dreadful when they scored, but MAN, those saves that he did make were superb. He might be one of the most athletic keepers I've seen. Ridiculous reflexes

Yeah, it was a soft goal, but the marking (or complete absence of) didn't help matters much.
