So today was the last day that Tower will be open at it's Fenway location... and stuff was 30% off. Not a bad gig for CD's actually - all their stuff (except for the high priced imports) turned out to be about 11.20 each! So I loaded up on a few comps myself on some stuff.

Question is - is Tower Records closing all over? Or was this just a Boston thing. Anyone from Boston, is the Tower Records in Harvard Square closing too? That one I never thought was so good.

Actually, if you're from Boston, where do you go music hunting? ANy particular stores? I stick to the basics and actually made a few connections with folks at Newbury Comic and Boston Beat. ANy other independent stores around town that you go to? Tower was Commercial but it does sort of suck to see them go away. They had a decent DJ selection to look through and face it, Virgin is just too damn expensive unless you have all the $4-$5 off vouchers.

Tower is not closing everywhere, though their parent company's last set of financials was terrible so it's not surprising.

Way back when I lived in Boston (which is now 10 years ago), my favorite store was Disc Diggers in Davis Square, Somerville. And apparently they still exist, though I couldn't tell you if they're still any good.
