Well, with the news coming out today that there is a possibility of the Montreal Expos becoming the Boston Expos for a year (NY Daily News & ESPN), I was wondering how this could affect our attendance at next year's Revs games.

I can't see this being a good thing for the Revs. Maybe I'm over worried, but this will hurt our attendance, as now there's a possibility of having a baseball home game almost every night through the entire summer. First of all, as a not-so-hardcore baseball fan, yuck. Secondly, I'd be curious to know if our attendance has any correlation to whether or not the Sox are playing at home.

The Expos, if this comes true, would be a cheaper alternative to sports fans than the Sox. Much cheaper I'm guessing.

So ... am I being paranoid? Yes, please don't remind me that this is still barely in the talking stages, I'm just making the hypothetical that this will happen.

It won't happen. The Sox mgmt./owners would put too much of a fight. Should it actually happen, slim as the chances are, it may hurt Rev attendance, but not tremendously.

I wouldn't have minded the 94 Expos for a one year deal though. ;)

Now that I typed that, A 950 The Fan in Denver mentioned that some higher ups think it may happen on their version of Sportsflash.

If Lucchino says no, I don't think we'll have to worry.

I think the folks around Fenway would be extremely unhappy if there were 162 home games a year. (even if only for one year) Bar owners in the area would benefit, but I think this would be a hard sell.

It'll never happen. Montreal is said to be doing some travelling during the season, a few months here, a few months there, but no way will any of those months be in Beantown.

After our success this year, our ticket prices will probably also go up...

That's had no effect on Sox attendance. FYI.

Actually, the sox owners probably want this to happen more than anyone - they are desperate for income, a season-full of rent would be great for them.

The ones who won't let it happen are the community groups in the Fenway and Back Bay - it would turn their whole (instead of half) summer into a horror show.

Either way (and it's not really gonna happen anyway), I don't think it would have any influence on the Revs.
