Let's leave the Viewing Party Thread or Game Watch (as Greta calls it) for the details/rsvp's for Grafton St. Now, is it possible to get in the head of Coach DiCicco and figure out the starting 11 and formation? Will he surprise us and sit a "name" player and start someone like Nobis or Schmedes?? Predictions? I think they'll play in a 4-3-3. Mitts and Scott like to attack and the 3 man midfield will lend itself to that nicely. With that I think they'll have 2 holding midfielders playing behind the #10 So, here's how I see it. ---------------------------Lucky---------------------------- ------Mittsie-------LePeilbet------Goffi-------Scott---------- -------------------Chapman-----Hucles----------------------- ---------------------------Smith----------------------------- -----------A-Rod-------------------------Lilly--------------- --------------------------Latham----------------------------- Thoughts??
Looks solid to me Coach. I am fairly certain that Nobis will be in for Latham at some point. Can we sing Hakuna Matata at Grafton St.?
I agree with most of it but the attacking midfield. I think it will be closer to a 4-4-1-1. ---------------------------Lucky---------------------------- ------Mittsie-------LePeilbet------Goffi-------Scott---------- -------------------Chapman-----Hucles----------------------- --------Lilly----------------------------------Smith------------ ---------------------------A-Rod----------------------------- --------------------------Latham----------------------------- Don't be surprised to see Smith subbed out she apparently has a strained hamstring she is fighting. I expect to see Nobis, Schmedes, and Bishop make an appearance at some point in the game.
I thought the formation was an April Fools spoof, kinda like the Obama Bans GM and Chrysler from NASCAR. Regarding the FC Safari, given we have the Pride Gold lioness mascott, and the Seringetti (SP?) fan section, the whole show looks more and more like a Safari. One of my buddies suggested that opposing teams have fireworks or cannons and take a shot every time a goal is scored. I bet we never hear that cannon. LOL!
Most of us Breaker fans are Revs fans first and we tend to poke fun at names of our opponents. Just wait for the match thread when we play Chicago.
That starting 11 looks good to me - I'm hoping Smith can go 90, but it sounds as if that may not happen. I think those are the eleven that we'll see starting, but I'm curious to see how Tony will line up Lilly, Smith, A-Rod, and Latham, and to see how much chemistry they have together. Sinclair is always a dangerous player, but nothing our back four shouldn't be able to handle. I'm thinking 2-0 Boston.
New women's soccer (FC Safari) team has several goals That's only part of the mission for the Gold Pride, the Bay Area's entry in the new seven-team Women's Professional Soccer league. When the curtain goes up Sunday afternoon at Buck Shaw Stadium, the Pride will be shooting for other goals. -Be entertaining. -"I always tell my players: 'Let's go out and put on a show,'" Coach Albertin Montoya said. -Or as midfielder Leslie Osborne put it: "We want people to watch us and say, 'Wow.'" -Help the fledgling league get off on a good foot. -Oh, and winning would be nice. At the center will be a three-player midfield featuring some combination of Chastain, Osborne, Formiga and Tina DiMartino. Osborne is slated in the "holding mid" position that anchors the field by winning balls and feeding the attack. This is going to be a great soccer weekend... Liverpool------> Revolution-------> My U18's--------> Breakers!
Brandi Chastain back on field at age 40 "I think everybody needs to be able to leave or make a decision on their own terms," she says. Chastain takes these matters a little personally. Also 40, she's playing in the new Women's Professional Soccer league — just don't call it coming out of retirement. Sure, Chastain hasn't been with the U.S. national team in more than four years, but that was only because she was left off the roster. "I never considered myself retired," she says. "Other people retired me." Former World Cup teammate Julie Foudy called recently to ask what position Chastain was playing. Told midfielder, Foudy exclaimed, "Do they know how old you are?"
That's really cool that Chastain is playing at 40. She even said that she sees no reason why she shouldn't keep playing past this season! Good for her! She should play as long as she can still play and keep up even if she's 45 or 50.
No actually it should be FC Thundercats. Entrance music is already done for them. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Qd_IsxgAf8"]FC Thundercats[/ame]
for those of us who do not have tv access, is there a webradio station i can listen to the game on!!??
For anyone going to the game today (or if you know someone at the game today): If you have twitter capabilities on your mobile phone please join the group WPSFansGameDay on twitter. Then send the group DIRECT MESSAGES about what you are seeing at the game. Direct messages will be sent to all members of the group. It's a play by play from the perspective of the fans. It would be great if people join so we can get the perspective of people from various viewpoints in the stands. Thanks, WPSFansGameDay
Maybe put up a live link to the web page for the Tweets? They did that for yesterday's match and it was better than matchtracker (for anyone that doesn't get FSC).
The crowd are quiet but FC Gold pride are good. Took the game to the breakers. I like Weimer she is very busy & always a threat. Kelly Smith is playing well for Boston. But the midfield need to step it up a bit. Hucles & Moore are nowhere. ARod needs to be more aggresive & make more runs..more Weimer like. Latham needs to show herself.
yea mitts did NOT look great. Interesting to see her play without rampone and chalup by her. buehler on the other hand played really well. the wps is going to be great for her growth.
I said this over at the Gold Pride thread but I thought I'd toss it in here: What an entertaining game. If this is what an early season game looks like and it only gets better from here, this league rocks.
I agree, Hucles was invisible. As for Smith, she almost had me regretting buying a Lilly jersey... I was very impressed by her- even that little shove/foul thing. Very dedicated and competitive, in addition to creating so many chances and scoring the goal (beautiful goal).
