Over on the B&M thread discussion the Forbes 500 list I as scrolling through and noticed this name.

#437. Richard Egan Massachusetts 68 $1.30 EMC Corp.

Because I'm a Northeastern graduate and Mr. Eagan has been tremendously generous to the school his name jumped out at me. I only bring it up here because during the whole sillyness of discussing the Krafts dumping the Revs and potential new owners/investors were being tossed around we were talking about wealthy people in the area. To my knowledge Eagan has no involvement in professional sports nor would I imagine he has any interest in it. I just thought this would be interesting to put out there.

I'll throw some of the other ones out there who are listed at being from Mass. I don't know who they are however.
    31. Abigail Johnson Massachusetts 42 $9.80 mutual funds
    76. John Abele Massachusetts 63 $5.40 medical devices
    85. Edward Johnson III Massachusetts 73 $4.90 Fidelity Investments
    91. Peter Nicholas Massachusetts 63 $4.70 medical devices
    247. Amos Hostetter Jr. Massachusetts 67 $2.20 cable TV
    277. Patrick McGovern Massachusetts 66 $2 publishing
    472. Thomas Flatley Massachusetts 71 $1.20 real estate

Don't forget his partner was Ron Mariano ( hence EMC - Egan, Mariano and the two fellows who would be C backed out before the company got going but the name was already there )

After his debacle with the Pittsburgh Penguins I would assume that Egan would avoid pro sports like the plague

Flately is in construction, building management etc

    #'s 31 and 85 are daughter/father - Fidelity

I am pretty sure #'s 76 and # 91 are the guys from Boston Scientific

Was it Egan who was involved with the Pens ? I thought it was Marino (the "M"). There was an article in Boston Mag a few months back stating he was getting into movies.

I don't see any of these people with any particular soccer ties.

On the other hand, I don't see the Krafts getting out soon.

    Yes it was Marino

I was not clear in my point that why would Egan do this after the troubles his partner had

See what happens when you have to type fast because the boss is coming !

The Krafts are not going to dump the Revs. EVER

Yeah I did a quick google search and it was Marino, who has also been very generous to NU. Thanks for the clarification on some of these other people. I don't see the Krafts getting out either and don't think there's any connection to soccer with any of these people, just figured it'd be an interesting list.

Exactly. Hostetter is a big shot with Continental Cable and Media One, and was one of the big WUSA investors. He's the only name that jumps out at me from that list as having a big-time soccer connection.
