BORO have been pipped to the chance of a UEFA Cup place by Manchester City. The Premier League confirmed this afternoon that Kevin Keegan’s side will be England’s candidate for the competition through the Fair Play League. City finished fifth in the Barclaycard Premiership Fair Play League table, but got the nomination as leaders Manchester United, Newcastle, Chelsea and Liverpool have all already qualified for Europe. Boro were narrowly behind them in sixth place. However, before City receive direct entry, England must remain at the head the international Fair Play table when it concludes next month.
