    Frankly, I think legit news organizations should consider giving up their seats in the WH press room because there hasn't been a nugget off real news generated in there for some time, going well back beyond the current administration.

    The "announcements" are all available on line in the press releases, so what is the point of asking scott McClellan or any other PS questions?

    Thanks - but now that I've seen it, I really don't get it. I mean, for a start no one did anything that was "disrespectful", for a second Terry Moran was no better or worse an interogator than David Gregory of NBC News and for a third ... that McClellan guy is terrible. Where on earth did they find him? What a wet blanket. No wonder these hacks are going after him, that the White House put a nomark like him up for their sessions is the only act of disrespect in any of this.

    So we'll just chalk this down as another ITN brainfart then I guess.

    -Badgering a White House Press Secretary;

    -Deliberately pursuing questions despite being repeatedly told that the White House cannot comment on an ongoing investigation;

    -Delilberate rudeness toward a White House Press Secretary;

    And Moran's done this before:
    In 2002 vs. House Majority Leader Dick Armey=>
    http://www.fairpress.org/mbow02/outragearchive0506.htm
    In 2005 vs. Pres. Bush at Ft. Bragg=>

    In general: Moran's known bias and disreaspect=>

    Scott McClellan needs to hand this junior 'Sam Donaldson wanne be' Moran his walking papers!

    HAHAHA!!! You're priceless. I mean, I know you're just trolling and all that and it's quite possible you're not actually stupid enough to really believe half of what you post, but if you want a press corps that is handed it's "walking papers" after a gentle grilling of an obviously ineffectual Bush team stooge, then you really do hate many of the freedoms that make America great.

    Taking a clammy, limp-wristed stooge like McClellan appears to be through some of the headline aspects of his preposterousness is as functional a part of journalism as breathing is of living.

    "Deliberate rudeness" ..... LOL! I swear sometimes you let your online mask slip and reveal the fifty-something spinster that lurks behind the keyboard.

    ITN needs to stop ruining the new Pope for the rest of us and change his avatar. Everytime he says something moronic its as if the Pope himself is trolling these boards instead of some guy with a persecution complex.

    Come on, they all smelled blood. Whats wrong with holding this idiots feet to the fire? I wish it had been Bush up there in a debate, his veins would have popped and his head exploded.

    These guys change the rules to suit themselves. They are caught. We all know it but you're in denial. This is gonna be a lot of fun.

    Thanks for the link guys. All White House press conferences should be like this no matter who's in office. It's the press' duty to call the secretary out on ****************.

    Good to hear there's at least one reporter who has got the guts to do his job properly. If anyone should get their walking papers, it's McClellan: what a wuss!

    Precisely. Only if you really do hate freedom would you focus more on "deliberate rudeness" and less on the fact that the White House's Chief Press Whatever is a lying scumbag who is trying to treat everyone in that room and, by extension, you like a total fuckwit.

    It's hilarious. Can't comment when it's the subject of an "ongoing investigation" - except in 2003 when it happened to be convenient to the White House to do so. The reek of hypocrisy is overpowering. Strange that Fox news are so silent about this :D

    ITN, when someone disrepects the office they themselves hold over a protracted period of time, eventually those who interact with them must come to disrespect it too...

    McLellan resembles a "White House Press Secretary" somewhat less than Pee Wee Herman resembles King Kong...

    Well insomuch as the hypocrisy of the WH position is news (and that, after five years of Team Bush, is highly debatable), we have to remember that Fox don't do news. They do human interest guff like the Aruba story and they do splattergun political propaganda.

    In fact, you just know that even as I type Hannity is putting Colmes through his "Yes, master" paces on the moral outrage piece he's got planned for the Moran-deliberately-rude-to-weak-apparatchik "scandal".

    Heaven forbid a member of the press actually do their job and try to hold people in power responsible for their own statements. The entire point of having a free press is that they follow the story from beginning to end and look for consistency, making sure to report on any inconsistency they see.

    If the facts contridict a statement made by someone, it's their job to point this out. That's what in this world we like to call, "finding the truth."

    It's extremely difficult in this administration to do so since the flow of information in general is so minimal, even for war time.

    Though I do have to give credit to the Press Secretary for staying on point down to the letter. He could work for Fox News when he's done because he's great at sticking to a theme even when the question has nothing to do with the question asked.

    Please show us where the media are charged with such responsibility? The Fifth Estate can't even keep its own house in order; it has no business being an attack dog of the federal government, even though that has been its assumed role since Vietnam!

    So what do you think the role of the press should be?

    Erm ... so you're saying the media should not hold people in power responsible for things?

    It'll be something along the lines of "to report facts". Which ignores the fact that the White House is now running exactly counter to its position on this issue from two years ago, at a time when doing so is politically convenient.

    So what he'll mean is one (dumb) thing. What he'll actually be saying is quite another - namely, that the press should be a supine body, reporting only those facts that support the Bush administration.

    As has been established, ITN hates America. It's sad, really.

    ITN's act is a lot less funny when he's being a traitor.

    very simple Claymore... REPORT THE NEWS... not be the news, or twist the story to fit their perspective... both CNN and Fox twist the news to varying degress... indeed most media outlets amplify the message... ABC, CBS, NBC, etc.

    Again, the answer to your question is REPORT THE NEWS... not be the news!

    Those journalists in the White House Press Corps have a responsibility to their host to act like adults! Moran failed!

    How so Matt? Because in your warped cranium you refuse to accept reality thus IT HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED? What criterion have been met beyond your lack of understanding?

    The badwagon argument fails every time; you've yet to merit the distinction of using the bandwagon argument in any capacity... Back to Rhetorical Discussion 101 with you!

    I know that as a conservative, you believe it's the job's media to simply parrot whatever prepared statement they see (and to a large part they do since many news reporters and editors are pretty lazy). But here on Earth, it's the general understanding of the press to report all aspects of a story no matter what individual sources say - including questioning said sources if their story contridicts another source or in this case his or her own prior statements.

    If you think that the press has only been pursuing this since Vietnam, you might want to look at the press pre-1900. They were actually more rabid than they are today. The Teapot Dome scandal is a good starting point.
