Anybody hear Boomer Esiason (sp?) on
the Jets - Eagles cbs broadcast?

I wasn't watchin, but the game was on
in the background. He questioned why
they hadn't installed FieldTurf on Giants
    stadium, and said something like...

"I did some digging around, and they say
there's no grass cause they want to
please the Italian and German soccer
teams that come here and play. And for
what... they just play here 4 times." Or
    somethin like that.

Maaaaaan, that soccer. It's just so evil :)

I wish you guys the best of luck gettin
the hell outta dodge, and asap.

On a related note, I was watching the Giants yesterday and the announcers were complaining about the condition of the field and Phil McConkey says something like "Well it's better than what was here before, but the MetroStars play here and are responsible for a lot of the damage to this field."

Do these guys even realize that the reason that this "better" field is here in the first place is BECAUSE of Metro? They've got no right complaining about Metro tearing it up.

It always amazes me how football players (who treat grass the same way cattle do) can blame soccer for damage of the field. The NFL players union has lobbied for natural playing surfaces for years, as they believe less injuries occur on them. Nonetheless, when you have 300 lb men running around on grass in the rain (in a limited area-between the hash marks), the grass will suffer. Phil McConkey and Boomer Esiason are morons if they think Metro are to blame for the condition of the field. Actually, they're probably morons anyway.

theres a saying in public relations speak that says "there's no such thing as bad press". maybe we should look at it as FREE promo! if we win a big game at the end of the year maybe i'll jump on the field and take some grass home like they did at shea in "69". then they'll be talkin!

That's why the Metros need their own stadium.

I was at the Jets game on Friday and there was more damage done to the field on those 3 hours than the Metros did all year. I was watching, just to see how much they would screw up "our" field.
