I'm not worried about players downing tools and looking elsewhere, they're professionals, loyal to the club, and chosen for not being egotistical arseholes. But they will be inundated with come-on's from every direction, at the least a very unhealthy distraction.
It comes from the writings about the saints. So, when applied to normal mortals! - basically, an anointing, as of the notions and value of a sainthood in a life/career....... It's not that obscure of a word - maybe a little on the academic side......
In any event - as noted earlier (I believe) - expect one of these "stories" every week citing a different player "not committing" their future to Liverpool.
Bah, wasn't much in those quotes to be honest. To me it looked more like he was saying the club has a lot of work to do in finding the new management, and only once they'd done that would they likely start talking to him about renewing his contract. He's probably fishing for one last big payday, and may not have stayed with LFC anyway if they weren't willing to pony up enough (even if Klopp was still around). His play has been back to high levels this year, after dropping a bit since he came back from his ACL injury. But he is on the wrong side of 30, and while I think from a leadership standpoint having him in the side is a positive, he is occasionally vulnerable to getting beaten. That is only going to be more and more apparent as he continues to put more miles on his legs. My guess is that wage demands and playing time may be an issue in his next contract negotiations. For me I'll be a lot more worried if we start seeing similar statements from TAA. Salah and VvD were likely only going to be offered shorter-term contract renewals (if any) given their age anyway.
Xabi This is the most Klopp thing ever🥲I’m sold, bring Xabi home❤️ https://t.co/jsYlguoZZf— Anything Liverpool (@AnythingLFC_) January 29, 2024
him and Emery both underwhelming the hell out of everyone today. thank god. I don't want either of them.
I'm going to use my newfound powers to open a new thread for discussing the search for a new LFC manager. Be a shame to clutter up this Jurgen Klopp Forum with speculation that doesn't directly involve him... https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/the-search-for-a-new-lfc-manager-thread.2129275/

Very good. Of course there was the elephant on the table of the question, “Pep, do you want to succeed Jurgen?”
Liverpool are considering an open-top bus parade through the city centre at the end of the season so supporters can say farewell to Jurgen Klopp, even if the club win no more trophies. (P.Joyce)
hands down, the best manager ever. No offence meant here, but anyone who thinks that either Bill Shankly or Bob Paisley could have pulled off what Klopp pulled off at a verging-on-mid-table Liverpool of 9 years ago is wearing very rose-tinted spectacles.....
But, the problem is - you can't know this, in say, the manner that WingTips knows Thiago Alcantara....
True ... in much the same way as I can't know that Stalin wasn't a black-hearted sod, but rather, deep down, a true emphatizer with the notions of minimalizing human suffering.

That's fantastic. The number of young players on the list who remain at the club is special. Several of them have a chance to really make a mark at Liverpool.
