The Herald claims that Treasurer John Delaney was the man who told Mick to ask for the infamous bonus. And I thought he was supposed to be one of the few good FAI men.

Also, Raymond Domenech has said he is not interested in the managers job, so that one didn't last very long.

it was listening to the radio debate yesterday. if it wasn't so sad it would be funny.

mick mccarthy and his advisor/business manager have sworen affidavits which state delaney approached mmc and advised him to ask for the bonus. it is expected that delaney is to issue a statement later today denying the conversation ever took place.

even the most naive of us wouldn't accept that it was a simple 'misunderstanding' between to guys. somebody is LYING - but who to believe?

i always thought delaney was the one guy in the fai with a bit of self respect so i will reserve judgement until i hear what he has to say....

.......but it doesn't look too good

I warned you lot about this last week, but as usual nobody took a blind bit of notice of what poor old WishyWashy had to say. There is far more to this than just what you hear Philip Quinn as his ilk talk/write about.
Perhaps a certain individual shouldn't have placed himself on a pedestal, thinking he was untouchable. Leaking stories to the press and placing a particular spin on others is not the conduct one expects of a "self-respecting" executive board member. If one doesn't do the right thing today, two others will have to do it for him.

Oh you're a right funny man my Uzbeki friend!

The truth behind the Merrion Square crisis is that it the latest leg of a long running faction fight. Young Mr. Delaney's determination comes in part from the way his father was ousted a few years back. Mr. Fahey & poor aul Milo are from the other camp, and as such would never have been happy with Johnny's presence. His recent acts of self-publicity were the proverbial straw. It's hard to see how this triumvirate can continue to work together after these allegations, even if Johnny manages to defend himself successfully over the next 2 weeks and retain his position.

As I understand it, Kerr and Delaney don't see eye-to eye either.
(Still I suppose you could send Delaney home from Saipan without affecting the team on the field!! :) )

This was because Delaney wanted to cut costs and pull junior teams out of competitions like the under 20s won last week. Kerr of course thinks that these tournaments are fundamental to the development of the international side as I understand it.
