So, I saw highlights from the Bolton-Nottingham Forest game last night on Fox Soccer News, and I thought the second goal provided some good talking points (It starts around 30 seconds into the video): http://www.101greatgoals.com/gvideos/bolton-2-nottingham-forest-2/ As you can see, the ball comes in from a cross where attacker #1 heads it off the post. Attacker #2 hits a shot off the rebound and scores. The problem is that attacker #1 is in an offside position right next to the goalkeeper as the shot comes in. In fact, the ball goes in between the goalkeeper and attacker #1 (they're only about 1 yard apart) as it makes its way into the goal. So the question is: does the presence of attacker #1 interfere with the goalkeeper from making a save?
Doesn't look like it to me. The keeper had a clean look at the shot. By the way, I think the ball might have gone between his legs.
I suppose, it just seems like the positioning of attacker #1 distracted the goalkeeper somewhat. It's probably not enough to take back the goal, however.
There was a short period of time where attacker #1 was between the keeper and attacker #2, blocking the keeper's sight line, but it appears that he moved out of the way in time to give the keeper a clear view of the shot. No offside in my opinion.
A player simply being close by isn't enough to be an offence though. The player has to make some kind of act such as block LoS, physically hinder the keepers movement or possibility to play/catch the ball. In this instance I'd say that the attacker did the best thing possible by very clearly and intentionally moving out of the way and allowing the keeper to try and make a save unhindered.
