i saw this in another forum, but what do you guys think of a 4-2-3-1 formation?
    de sciglio-bonera-yepes-antonini
    --------montolivo-nocerino-------
    ----SES------boateng------urby--
    --------------pazzini--------------

here we have a nocerino/montolivo pairing in the mid. that's pretty much the same thing as a pirlo/gattuso, no? i also think its more attack minded than the sampdoria game. we're gonna have problems opening teams up this year, so we're gonna have to be more ballsy this year.

or in different circumstances (like injury free):
    abate-bonera-yepes-antonini
    -----ambrosini-nocerino------
    boateng-montolivo-robinho
    -----------pazzini/pato(if ever healthy)

i'll make a prediction after the window closes. i wouldn't be surprised if galliani brings in another midfielder before it's over.

galliani says the market is closed since we got bojan on loan.

if allegri can qualify for the CL with this squad then he should be given a new contract with a higher salary. [IMG]

good call on midfielder. De jong will settle nicely in center mid. Prob not rdy for this game but id like to see a
    Abbiatti
    Abate Bonera Yepes De sciglio/antonini
    MOntolivo Boateng Nocerino
    SES Urby
Pazzini............... Perhaps Bojan as sub, or

    IDEALLY....
BACK 4 of whoever is best
    Nocerino-De Jong
    Boateng -Montolivo-Robinho
    Pazzini
Swap SES,Bojan at top spot for who ever if you want...

I think a 4-2-3-1 will suit us now with De Jong coming in, except I think if you're going to have De Jong playnig as one of the holding players, Montolivo needs to be beside him so that he can control the game. Ina 4-3-1-2 Montolivo is better up the pitch, but in a 4-2-3-1 I thinkyou also need a creative player in the holding role that compliments the type of player De Jong is.

    -----------------------Abbiati------------------------
    Abate-------Zapata---------?-------------Antonini
    -------------Montolvio-----De Jong------------
    Robinho----------Boateng----------Emanuelson
    ----------------Pazzini/Pato/Bojan----------------

I disagree. I think De Jong and Nocerino are good enough passers that they dont need a creative guy next to them. I dont remember how Bojan plays. I think hes a wide player and "creator". Id swap SES/Robinho/Bojan as those wide players while Pazzini/Pato swap for striker role and Boateng/Montolivo swap for center of field.

We do have a nice rotation of midfield players in Montolivo,Nocerino,De Jong, Urby, Boateng, Ambro, and Flamini. Muntari will add another guy when he returns as well.

Most teams that adapt the two holding midfield players play style have a player that is comfortable in possession, De Jong always had Yaya Toure next to him who was a adept player with the ball at his feet, look at Madrid you have Khedira/Alonso(Alonso being the passer). At Liverpool they have Lucas and Gerrard. Munich have Gustavo and Schweinsteiger - are you seeing my point? Nocerino isn't a possession retaining type of player, neither is De Jong, but pair De Jong with Montolivo and it becomes a possession retaining/ball winning holding partnership.

Makes sense. I still feel like Noce/De Jong can coexist in midfield together while Montolivo can be pushed up farther into the attack. I guess we have quality guys that perform at different positions which is nice to see.
