    Bolivar vs La Plata 'R'

    Argentineans took a pounding, 4-1.

La plata may get a win at home, but I think the agregate goal differential is too far apart.

Who are the potential teams that could face off against BOlivar in the next round?

Good luck to Bolivar in the next round. I dont think they will get passed San Lorenzo. They might, but will have to kick azz at home and play some good azz defense to a team that's much faster.

san lorenzo is much more of a team than bolivar. i think san lorenzo will do much better than gimnasia in bolivia and get passed to the next round.

    Bolivar has three advantages.

They are the most loaded Bolivian team in a decade. They literally threw out the house to get this team.

Currently, the Argentinian league isn't what it used to be.

Bolivar has already qualified for the Libertadores. They can fully concentrate on this tournament. Besides they need to with that huge payroll of theirs.

i was at this game last wednesday. it really should and could have been 7-0. with that aggregate, it would have been nearly impossible for gimansia to move on. obviously the altitude was an important factor. watching the argentine players run for long balls, they were huffing and puffing...and botero, on the other hand, was a flash running to catch up to long balls.

the one goal gimnasia netted may be huge. dont underestimate the home field that gimansia holds as the crowd is much closer and much more hostile than the bolivian crowd. i also think gimnasia is pissed. after the game, all the players were saying how lucky bolivar was, with two of their goals coming from "media cancha" and the fourth, a very close and possible off-sides (it wasnt from the replay)...and in the 2nd half, gimnasia could have very well had 2-3 players sent off for brutal fouls, mainly aimed at gatti ribeiro, who abused his argentine counterpart.

    the game is oct. 30th.

let them get by gimansia first :)

btw, bolivar lost to union central from tarija on sunday..with all the starters except gatti, most likely a huge mental letdown after the last game..

Only is a strong word. Yeah, they take full advantage of their advantage. however saying that all Bolivian teams particularly the ones from Santa Cruz are only any good in altitude is funny. You do know that Santa Cruz is like 800 meters above sea level right?

Bolivar is an excellent team as a visitor. I think you'll see they have a better defense than shown by Gimnasia.

Yeah, it's interesting. Bolivar was the only undefeated team and they lost to such a poor team like Union. Of course, on the other hand they were visitors and only lost 1-0.
