Bolanos and Walls waived... And other things as well... http://www.chicago-fire.com/pressbox/pressrelease/releasetext.asp?prID=1398
http://chicago-fire.com/pressbox/pressrelease/releasetext.asp?prID=1398 I hope in Jonathan's case it's just to pick him up cheaper on the rebound. Boo. I really liked him.
I will say this, if this is indeed to clear a Senior International spot, better Jonathan than Dipsy. Seems to show we're committed to The Dip for the long haul.
Futagaki, Walls, and Bolaños are all guys who deserved more of a shot. If we had anywhere near reasonable size rosters and developmental teams, these guys would have been given that chance. Suckage. I enjoyed talking with Jonathan, he was a cool guy. Boo. And the wondergoal that never was...argh!
I think Dave's freeing up some roster room (an a SI spot) with this move. Although, the interational transfer market doors closed, does this mean the only international players we can pick up are not playing for someone currently?
Re: Re: Bolaños and Walls Waived If it's whom I think it is, we'd have been better of letting AW move on, in my opinion. But I trust Dave's judgement of course.
I was hoping Bolanos would develop into the attacking central midfielder we so desperately need. We better get somebody who can dribble up the middle and pass.
Frees up a Senior International spot, and we do have a allocation to spend. Also means we are relying on Williams more often that not this season.
Maybe, but there's two problems with that statement. a) They wouldn't be Senior Internationals. b) Camp doesn't start till tomorrow. How can they know how they'll fit into the team or whether they'll wash out in preseason? (see: Agogo, Junior; Grimandi, Gilles; etc.)
my understanding of the transfer window is that we can still transfer someone from europe into mls... we just can't transfer anyone into europe as their window is now closed
I liked him, too. I saw a lot of potential. Perhaps this is in anticipation of signing Mr. Zielinski?
True. We can buy players from Europe or anywhere as long as our transfer window is still open. I hope this Zielinski thing happens. I've never seen him play, but from the way people talk about him, it's seems like he can be a great addition to the team.
I saw Nick Walls play last year at the Latin All-Stars friendly. He seemed very quick and really poured his heart into a pretty meaningless game. Sad to see him go...
Replying to my own post. Thinking about that Latin All-Stars match stirred up a bad memory of Henry Ring coming in for Zach and wrecking his clean sheet. yikes. I'm all for giving the guy a chance, but I'd just as soon not have that to look back on.
