Good for him. Nice, smart guy and now he is in a profession where he belongs. Wouldn't be surprised if time allows if he ends up playing with a local non league side in Leicester.
They had plenty of roster spots prior to this. This has more got to do him finally being fit enough to cut. I'm assuming the retirement angle was the more graceful way to go, but he wasn't going to play again for the Revs regardless.
Good luck Zach. Wishing you the best in your future, especially in a career that will actually help society.
The Revs are setting some weird standard here. We had one guy retire to become a priest, now here's a guy retiring to take a Fulbright. This may actually be a first in the world of professional sports. Anyway, good for Boggs.
Some people will do anything to get out of playing for the Revs. According to the locked Roster thread, we have 25 on the roster, so 3-5 open roster slots now.
Best of luck and congratulations to Zak - it's a huge honor and opportunity. It would also be kinda neat if he ended up playing in some English lower division while there, but I'm guessing these research scholarships are a full-time position. Also of note, there goes the last member of our 2010 SuperDraft class - Schilawski, Sinovic, Griffiths and Boggs are all no longer Revs after just two+ seasons.
Zak Boggs, Best Worst Revs Player. Greatest human being to ever play poorly for the Revs. He gave Soccer a shot, and is now going on to bigger and better things than backing up Dimitry Imbongo
