hallo, anyone know how far/much $ it is from munich to bochum? i will be there for a week and i know 1860 is home (but its sunday game and i leave that day). is bochum playing that saturday (sept 28)? btw, any of you munich/german people suggest which tent is the best during oktoberfest?
Munich to Bochum are some hundred kilometers (500?). They have a home game against Bremen, but according to the official DEL site http://feed.bundesliga.de/termine/ Bochum plays on Sunday and 1860 on Saturday.

Official 1860 website confesses Saturday 28, 3.30 pm. I don't see major security problems with Oktoberfest and a soccer game - Oktoberfest rather needs security in the evenings when the people are drunk: http://www.tsv1860.de/?id=709
Kicker has the TSV game for Saturday as well. If you want to go to the Sunday game, Nuremberg is a heckuva lot closer than Bochum (two hour drive, maybe). As for tents, it depends on what you are looking for. Here were my favorites in no particular order: Hacker (seemed to be a much younger crowd; obviously serves Hacker-Pschorr beer, which is my favorite of the traditional Munich beers) Lowenbrau (big and boisterous; seemed to have a a bit of a soccer theme to it, in that there were a ton of 1860 fans there; obviously serves Lowenbrau, which is 100x better than what they sell in the States) Weinzelt (smaller, quieter, more upscale; a nice change of pace, relatively speaking; served wine and I think wheat beer; what brand I don't remember) Kaefer's (also smaller and quieter with good food; don't remember what their beer is).
well, if you're in Munich on Oct. 1, you should try to catch the Bayern vs. AC Milan CL match. I think Bayern plays Bochum on the 5th too.
cbsmith, i'll only be there from 23-29. i much rather see 1860 than anyone else. wolfsburgh, i heard hacker is the best 'party' atmosphere. thats the one that stays open until 1am right? i am 23, i'm looking for the best/youngest/craziest tent.
It's all a bit subjective, but for my money, Hacker would be the choice for young people (college age) partying and drinking themselves silly. IIRC, and I hope I'm not mixing up my tents, but Hacker had rock bands, while most of the other tents had oompah bands. To be honest, we flew the redeye into Munich and went directly to Oktoberfest, so we were in bed relatively early on both nights, so I can't tell you how late the Hacker tent is open. Good luck.
