It's a clásico, and Boca has a chance to get back to first place, since Newells lost. But with a big game in Brazil next week and the injuries piling up, Falcioni is going to go full steam with the recambio. It's up to the subs to beat Racing and regain first place.

    Likely lineup:

    ............................S.Sosa
    F.Sosa........Sauro.......Caruzzo....E.Insúa
    ....G.Fernandez...Benavides...Sanchez Miño
    ...........................Chavez
    ................Araujo....Blandi

    AGUANTE BOCA!!!

Latest word is that Orion, Insaurralde and Mouche might play.

Silva got injured at the wrong time. At the business end of the season when he was just finding his scoring touch.

With Racing being near the bottom of the table this really isn't a bad game for us to go predominantly with the kids. Looking at the goals for/against numbers this should go in our favor and if Orion, Mouche and Insaurralde play then it will go in our favor.

Unfortunately I'll have to watch this game on DVR so I'll resist the temptation to check in while out.

Well an ok first half. lacking any real chances at goal, but we loo a threat, fel we are perhaps shooting from range a little to much.

TV Publica is just disgraceful... I don't know what feed you guys in the states watch the games on (i think gol tv spanish uses the tv publica feed) but basically when the racing fans started the racist chants araujo managed to some how turn the situation into a political plug

I mean... the barras are there because the govt allows them to be yet they stop the games when they start racist songs... And TV Publica doesn't even criticize them.(Futbol Para Todos is owned by the govt)

TV Publica is complicit in ALL the racism and violence we see in futbol argentino. Araujo is also a really sickening person... Racism will not stop while the barras go to the stadium so you can't stop the game for it because they will sing that crap every time boca plays. The solution isn't to stop the game for 5 minutes... its to GET RID of the Barras... If you get rid of them 90% of the racism and violence will go away

I really know very little about the internal politics of football in Argentina. And would love some insight about it, but is from my small knowledge base it seems the barras are so deeply entrenched within the clubs infrastructure getting rid of them is difficult and dangerous, though the 100% need to go. what do you think can be done to tackle it?

Not only they are deeply entrenched within the clubs infrastructure, but they are also cozy with the local politicians and have friends in the police department and security forces. It's a very complex problem.

Well I suppose it begs the question, is it possible to remove the baras at all? It seems to me as an outsider to the football culture in Argentina, that until something is done the progress of the game will be held back.

I only caught the first half but delighted with that result. We really have a strong squad these days we don't seem to lose much with the "2nd string".Also fantastic to see Viatri back with a super goal!!
I do think it's about time we gave abit more love to Falcioni. Most of us had a moan about him even when we won the last torneo but he has succeeded in bringing Boca back to the level they deserve. He is doing a great job mixing the team on 3 fronts and the style of play is generally good.Well done JCF!!

PS I realise we haven't won anything yet this season and it could still all go to pot lol

I watched the match late last night so I may have missed something but what did Araujo do that was so sickening? Sincere question, nothing more.

As for the match, what a great showing from Boca! This might have been our best overall showing all torneo and quite possibly including the Copa Libertadores. Really attractive football for sure. Both Insaurralde and Carusso were tremendous as were Insua and Sosa though Sosa can be a bit of a hack at times. Some of those tackles against Racing were just brutal but within the rules of the game and of course the bursting of the ball was awesome!

How many more times do I need to say it but why the hell isn't Orion not the first choice keeper for the NT? Amongst Argentine keepers anybody that tries to make an argument for another keeper is just clueless. Not many keepers world wide have been as consistent and commanding as Orion over the past 12--18 months.

In closing, it's great to have Lucas Viatri back. That golazo got me in trouble with the wife last night. For whatever reason I decided to watch the match in bed after I got home. The wife was crashed and I've got a pair of those Bose noise cancelling headphones. It didn't matter, I scared the ever loving shit out of here when he scored:D

Good for Viatri. He caught a real bad break with that injury, but it looks like he trained hard to be able to come back and staring to contribute already. In the end, he may just have a whole lot to say about where Boca ends up, especially in the primera. That there, was top shelf stuff.

It would take a serious concerted effort from the government and the police and the judges and the AFA and the clubs, and there's not the will to do it right now. The problem is that the barras are big business, there's a lot of money and power involved. In England the hooligans were all about drinking and fighting and the violence itself, so it was probably easier to combat it. In Argentina it started that way, but it became more than that, it's more like a form of organized crime, and there are lots of interests involved.
