Palestino: Melo; Lanaro, Contrebas, Carabaja; Rosende, Marquez, Valencia, Silva, Riquelme; Ramos, Guajardos.
lol gracias a dios! I was getting worried when I saw that the score was still 0-0... I'm sure more than 1 bostero got mixed feelings about that goal.
I doubt that. From the reaction of the crowd throughout the game it was obvious that everybody was pissed that Boca was playing poorly and not winning. I think everybody wanted this. With the subs, Boca changed significantly for the better, and could have scored even more, although it also had to do with Palestino going suicidal at the end. It's not a lock yet, but realistically it is. I have to look it up, but I'm pretty sure the amount of goals Corinthians has to score to pass Boca makes it highly unlikely, especially since they are playing two big teams in San Lorenzo and Sao Paulo.
LOL! Boca 18 favor 2 against. Corinthians 9 favor 1 against. Corinthians would have to score 9 goals in two games to finish as the top seed.
Corinthians must score 9 goals in 2 games for it not to happen. The other way it wouldn't happen is if both Emelec and Internacional lose their remaining games (also highly unlikely, since the Brazilians have 2 matches left) and finish below River as the 16th seed. So yeah, it's practically all but confirmed.. And don't be so sure of all the bosteros wanting this match... Some were scarred just a few months ago:
Btw, Inter is playing now against U de Chile.. if they get at least a point in this game, then that would leave the Corinthians scenario (them winning and scoring 9 goals in 2 difficult games) as the only possibility of this superclasico not happening in octavos..
This is a very different Boca team than what we saw in 2014. Of course, I think everybody wanted this matchup, even neutral fans. For Boca it would be a great chance to avenge what happened in Sudamericana last season, and to confirm the great start to this season. For River it would be a chance to avenge the ghost of Copas Libertadores past, and leave behind the horrible first round. And of course, Libertadores is ten times as big as Sudamericana or more, and much more difficult to win, but the winner of the Super would have huge momentum going forward. The awesome reward of winning the Super in Libertadores far outweighs the huge risk of losing it. I think Boca has clearly been the better team this season. But I don't kid myself, in a Super anything can happen. Last season River was clearly playing better, but it really was a close battle that could have gone either way. (Give or take a missed penalty and a wrongly disallowed goal )
It's official. With the Inter win and the Corinthians draw, Boca will play River next. VAMOS BOOOCA!!!
My evaluations: Orion 6: Solid on goal and chewed out Marin. Marin 6: Decent defending and scored the key first goal. Burdisso 6: Solid for the most part. Komar 5: The kid is still learning, but he has potential. Monzon 4: This one never learns. Still giving up unnecessary fouls. Cubas 6: A bit rusty and sometimes outnumbered in midfield, he still managed to play well. Cristaldo 4: He's still not showing up. Meli 5: Sacrifice but too many bad passes. Chavez 4: Poor game, improved a bit at the end when he got midfield support. Calleri 6: Isolated. Like good strikers often do, he got just one chance and put it in the net. Martinez 4: A game to forget. Gago 8: Came in and changed the game. Castellani 8: Created in a few minutes what the team hadn't created all game. One bad foul. Vadala 7: Dangerous and unlucky not to score.
After beating River on Sunday and seizing first place in Argentina, Boca gets ready for the rematch. But this time it's for survival in La Copa! Octavos de Final (Ida) Thursday May 7th 21:15 (Hora Argentina) Stadium: River Ref: Germán Delfino VAMOS BOOOOOCA!!!!!!
Gago was held out of practice yesterday, because of a knee issue. But word is he's ready to play. Damn! He better be. Boca is a different team when he's on the pitch.
This is the team that El Vasco tested in practice yesterday: 4-3-3. No Cubas, no Lodeiro, no Osvaldo. Starting eleven for tonight?
