Though it's off topic, apparently Bob Ryan said something about the recent Beckham sale, with the point that sports are financially crazy all over the world, not just in the USA. It's referred to at Boston.com, and naturally has already drawn a negative response about soccer. That said, I've seen hide nor hair of any such article. Perhaps he's written it for tomorrow, or it's from a TV broadcast?
He was on Tony Kornheiser's show this morning around 11:00am. Among other things, they talked about the Beckham move. They didn't say anything derogatory about soccer while I was listening, and I was suprised at how much Ryan new about the Premiership. He wasn't an expert or anything, but he showed much more knowledge of the situation, Real Madrid, Man U, Old Trafford, etc, then I would have ever guessed. Where is the negative reaction on boston.com? Lee
If you look at the responses you will see a couple of 'Soccer - who cares' comments. The best way to counteract that is to give a response to the question that shows it is of interest to you.
Bob Ryan commenting on soccer is like: 10. Billy Bulger commenting on the FBI. 9. Clarista Flockhart speaking on obesity. 8. Buddy Cianci talking about honesty in politics. 7. Tommy Smyth on new hairstyles. 6. Tom Menino speaking clearly. 5. Posh Beckham talking about Sir Alex. 4. Jon Meterparel defending soccer on the Idiot & Bigger Idiot Show. 3. Veronica Paysee asking a relevant question. 2. George W. Bush giving the location of actual weapons of mass destruction. 1. Skip-to-a-Lou Imbriano commenting on effective soccer marketing. Or anything to do with soccer, for that matter.
I'll bite. Here are a few that you missed: 5. Sunil on shopping at a Large & Tall Shop. 4. Walter Zenga on how to curb bad tempers. 3. Steve Nicol on the joys of opening up the offense. 2. Woody Feldman telling it like it is. 1. Bob Kraft on bargain prices at Gillette Stadium. Any others?
