http://www.mlsnet.com/content/02/kc0918gansler.html Interesting...change the practice habits right before the last and most important game of the season to date. "...a visit to a local health club. "We'll tend to our needs there before we step onto the plane and head to Denver," Gansler said. "Quite often we practice the day before the game either at home before we fly or once we get to our destination. This time we're not going to see a ball. We're going to a health club and players will do what they need to fine tune their bodies whether it's with a little bit of therapy, some lifting or swimming. It will be more of a relaxing day before a game." Is Bob putting his head on the chopping block? It sure sounds like it to me. The front office reads these boards, and must know there is a growing group of supporters calling for Bob's head if we don't make the playoffs. Could Friday be "Danger Bob's Last Stand"?
So by your logic no coach or manager that ever won a championship, in any sport, should be fired or asked to move on? It happens all the time, its called overstaying your welcome.
one championship man? maybe gansler is just a one minute man. he is only good for one. anyways i agree KC needs some change and i think it is in the coaching area. meanwhile go rampage. take er easy wbwiz also is this preki's last year how much longer can that guy go?
Re: one championship man? i'd say a good run in the playoffs with recognition to preki would see a retirement. no playoffs or a first round exit might bring him back. he can still go.
Preki's mind is as sharp as ever. He has shown that he can still go 110 minutes. Though his shot is nothing near than what it used to be. Also, as he had said himself the defenders have gotten a lot smarter in the 7 years this has been around, meaning his cut left and shoot isn't fooling as many people. Like Ben said, a good run in the playoffs and he may retire. A no show or a quick removal from the tournament and he will feel that he still has someting to prove.
As long as MLS is willing to pay him a sizable check, Preki will keep playing. His next step will be an attempt to join MISL again.
Preki has already said he will join the Comets when he retires from MLS. He'll be back next year. Why? Because he is still better than all the other old foggies in the league. If Valderama can do it and suck, Preki can do it and be among the team leaders in points, for years to come.
Two things: MLS is better than people think. Preki might not have the physicality to play in that league. He goes over like a pinwheel now. What's he going to do when one of the Duososki brothers puts him into the boards? Also, if Preki is our leading scorer next year, Chris Brown and Fabbro should both be summarilly dismisssed and Meola had better have another 2000-like year. It will be a bleak season.
