So Norway looked pretty pathetic losing to Arsenal the other day and I got some happiness out of it. Am I doing this right?
The spin has been ridiculous. When they lost to Hull in the FA Cup, Swansea fans on ESPNFC were saying Swansea defended well against a "strong Hull side." Hull's goalscorers that night were a player in his first match back from injury, and a 17-year-old scoring his first professional goal. Hull started the match with only one of their preferred starting back four on the pitch, and finished it with zero (and with three midfielders playing in the back). But anything to keep attacking Bradley.
OFFICIAL: Ole Gunnar Solskjær confirms to TV2 he rejected the offer from NFF to become the new Norway manager. pic.twitter.com/PZPLH4U4cs— ValueGambling.com (@ValueGambling) January 19, 2017
The Norway job is a poisoned cup. They couldn't qualify for the expanded Euro, where well over half of European countries with a population larger than San Diego qualify, and the only team they have beaten in WCQers so far is San Marino --and they're lucky they didn't get Cyprus or the Faroes as the group minnow. They're not going anywhere. Heck, even Mix may have made their squad, had he picked them.
One of the oldest clubs in the US is a Norwegian club here in Brooklyn, NY it's called Sporting Club Gjoa it is well over 100 yeas old. It was the first adult team I played for after moving here to Brooklyn in 1969. So I fell bad that Norway is not doing well.
Main problem for the Norwegian National team is that young Norwegian players do not need to succeed to have a good life, it shows. There is enough talent, but it still takes sacrifice and effort to truly succed. Players seems satisfied only to get a deal outside Norway, skipping along way to early. Wheter they play or not seems less important. They are happy beeing squad players or reserves in 2.bundesiga, they seldom reach their full potential. Then beeing a small footballing nation we never seem to get good players in all positions at the same time. Like we may have plenty of strong defenders, but no attackers. Then a few years down the road we suddenly have a bunch of good attackers, but no midfielders. Then a few more years pass, and suddenly we have a lot of quick technical players, but no big strong defenders, and so on. Right now we have some talented offensive midfielders and decent goalkeepers, but we lack experienced defensive midfielders, strong sentral defenders and a poacher. (Bob could perhaps give Dio a chance, hand find success there)
who are your top players? Not to hark on you guys but Sweden and Denmark are similar size populations and they seem to find a diamond in the rough (ala Zlatan for example).
Swedens population is twize the sice of Norways. Besides, Sweden and Norway are to very different countries (I work for a swedish company and travel frequently to sweden) Culturally, social structures, mentallity, decisionmaking, everythingvis quite different. Sweden has industry, we have fish and oil. They have Nobility, we forbid apointment of new nobility in our constitution of 1814 and revoked excisting privleged in 1821. Average yearly income is approx 14.500 USD higher in Norway compared with sweden. They have had massive immigration for a long time, with accompanying big housing projects that creates slumlike areas within their big cities. Sociologically they are farmers, we are hunter/gatherers. Speaking in broad terms I think us norwegians consider swedish men to be quite feminine even sissy like and not overly thrustworthy, you woundn't rely on them to have your back in a fight. (For that we have Fins). We love their women though Zlatan is from å really, really rough neighbourhood, where a life in the unemployment line, on social velfare or in crime is your basic options. He had talent and incentive, he became the best there is. Love that guy! Big player, cool cat, big hart. Not very swedish I wound say.
Nice recent article, it would seem Bob prefers, at this point, the day to day management of a club as opposed to a National team job. The Norway job has been offered to him and also the folks at the new LAFC have spoken with him. http://www.fourfourtwo.com/us/featu...sea-city-eager-open-next-coaching-opportunity Since Bradley was fired by Swansea, he and his wife took the time to visit his son, Michael, and family in Toronto. “That part’s great, there’s no two ways about it,” said Bradley. “But all the years I’ve been coaching the periods of downtime have been few and far between. It’s not what I enjoy.” An eager Bradley hopes that there isn’t much more downtime in his future. “If the right opportunity arose, then I’d be on the plane tonight,” Bradley said. “You always hope people have watched, paid attention and seen the way your teams play and the way you handle yourself because you try to earn respect with the way you do things. I am hopeful there are more opportunities."
That article says: That reads to me like he hasn't been offered the job, yet. They seem to be working their way down the shortlist with actual job offers with Solskjær the latest manager to say no.
Meh, I tried to support him at Swansea but stopped before he got canned. The Swans fans are some of the most miserable, angry, depressing group I've seen; at least online. Just searching back, this wasn't from recent issues, but a consistent trend over the years. Have a good game? miserable moaning. Bad game? moaning x10. Day-to-day sky-is-falling mentality. Miserable. Oh, and the racist remarks was nice. Replied to one of them after getting fed up, as a black man, and got pm'd with multiple hate mails. Literally. White trash.
Welsh... Well, I don't think he has got the job offer, it was just "FAKE NEWS" He is however the most popular candidate in every poll and forum. If he is the same in the FA towers is another question.
Thanks, you are correct about the article. I probably am incorrect, but I had thought, perhaps, I had heard it on this thread.
there were twitter reports that he'd been given an offer, but it appears others have as well and I have not seen any reports that Bob turned down an offer, so I'm just wondering...
if I were Bob I'd take it. So that his European ventures don't all end in a bust. Though also if I were him i'd try for a club team even if it was in Turkey or Switzerland or 2 Bundesliga.
Hehe, There were rumours that he had received an offer, that is true. Problem is that they probably want someone docile, someone who doesn't challenge the order of things. So that puts Bob at a disadvantage I suspect. A "spineless" swede is much easier to accept. Less of a badger in the chicken coop kind of thing...
Whaaat, they are there to be disrespected There is a saying here in Norway, never buy a used car from a Swede... I did, never again LOL Nah, we have our rivalries, or us Norwegians do, Swedes is kind of oblivious a little brother complex on our behalf I guess.
