Hey, I live in an age where the Piña Colada song is no longer regarded as an emetic. I got nothin' to be ashamed of.

"I'm gonna be the man who's Le havering Havreing to you" is the key lyric. In the Scottish dialect of English, the verb "haver" means "babble", which explains both its use in the song and the confusion it engendered in American listeners.

Oh no! Bob loses his first match, a Cup contest against 6th division side St Omer.

    http://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2015/...pe-de-france-bob-bradleys-first-match-charge?

"The cup is the same everywhere," Bradley told reporters after the loss. "You must be prepared in the early rounds for teams that will give everything. The first goal came from a corner kick, it gives St. Omer confidence and the job is much harder for us.

"I think we still tried to push the game in a better way, but it requires a football play at the end. For the whole day, I think we didn't create enough chances."

The former US national team coach was unveiled this past week by Le Havre, a club owned by ambitious American Vincent Volpe. The Normandy crew are making no secret of the hope that Bradley can lead them back to Ligue 1.

"I know the history of Le Havre," Bradley told the official club website on Thursday. "I know it's the oldest club in France. I know that is has an excellent academy.

Did he use a second-string lineup?

Can't imagine the domestic cup is that much of a concern for a second division team pushing for promotion. More like a burden.

Bob's always been a guy that works his way to success slowly/methodically.

Soon enough, he'll be knocking heads in the 2nd division. It just takes a time for him to figure out how to best play this team, and where/how to fill the holes.

I looked in the French Team forum (only three pages, btw), and there are NO threads regarding LeHavre. Unless someone here speaks French and goes to a LeHavre fan site (gently) to find information, we're not going to get much information, except from news/sports sources.

If a 6th division English club beat a Championship club this would be some big news. Does anyone outside of St Omer care about this upset?

So, from the HAC fan site (http://forum.infohac.com/index.php?page=forum&idf=5), the majority of posters are disgusted with the players and don't understand how they could have put in such a lackadaisical effort since they were essentially auditioning for Bob. They don't blame Bob, since he's only been there a week. They are hoping to see an influx of new players during the Winter transfer, especially in midfield, which apparently has been HAC's weakest area.

Most posters are cautiously optimistic that Bob's hiring will lead to good things. Some pointed out that he signed a two-year contract so they ought to give him at least until next season to get used to the French league and to hopefully get HAC promoted to Ligue 1.

One troll was quickly called out for whining about Bob not speaking French and for making bizarre accusations that "the Americans are just trying to steal our academy and make money off of us."

The overall sense I get from reading their forums is that they view Bradley as a high profile coach and are excited that their small club (their words) was able to hire a coach with his CV. They view Volpe fondly since he's lived in Le Havre for the past 20 years and is working to make their beloved club better.
