He knows more than you about soccer. He has done more in soccer in this country then you. He is knownn as the best soccer talent evaluator in this country. He is known as the on of the best coaches in the short history of MLS. How bout we give him the benefit of the doubt before we slag his pics and trades? I know he deserves at least that. Countdown to first stupid question asked to him during ESC Meetin in Feb. 10 9 8 7 6
i agreed... but there're few questions to be answered after the draft... one question is who will be our wingers? We traded away two outside players today... I assume Ricardo Clark/Magee/Gaven can fill in left midfield for now... but they rarely play that position when they were playing for their respective team... I am not worry b/c Bradley played no names players in Chicago Fire and still won... He is prolly filling players according to his system... Maybe Davis wasn't fast enough to play left midfield in his system.. who knows... We're definitely loaded in one position but who knows how our roster would end up before our 1st game of the year... But i defnitely give pops to Bradley for trying to win this year by giving up future picks.
I completely agree. Any fan should give him a one year "honeymoon" on player personnel decisions. He came here to shake things up and he's doing so.
F dat! This is NY! The only "honeymoon" Im giving him is until week #2. If he don't got his team by then, he's never going to. Let's not go back to the days of Charlie S where we would wait half a year to get the team going and by then it was too late. Bob's gotta produce starting in week #1. And Im very confident that he has the skills to do so, but at the same time he isn't going to get special treament.
He'll get a pass from me on player personnel decisions (ie. draft and trades). He will get no free pass from me on tactics and getting the most from his players on a week to week basis.
I don't think anyone called for the sack they were just wondering why he did some of the deals. You have to admit that while it may turn out for the better trading an established player for an 18 year old is a little risky. I'm not saying it was wrong I just want to know if anyone has any insight on why he made the deal.
I think this is the first time I agree with Eric D There is a method to his madness, either that or I'm blinded by that championship ring on his hand...you know, the one he won with the Fire in their first year???
My first question stupid question is "Was Bradley responsible for making the picks or did NickS have a hand in it?" Of course, I'd like to think it was Bradley and Nick had squat all to do with it.
great draft ... initial reaction was positive on all the moves, and even more so now that I've thought about it some more. akwari move was surprising but smart. akwari was dreadful defensively during the stretch run and vastly over rated on these boards. amazing that BB has brought in Ricardo Clark, Mike Magee, and Eddie Gaven (NJ represent) not to mention his picks such as Regan. We've held onto the allocation, correct? I'm impressed so far but this is what we expected when BB was hired.
Think with all the wheeling and dealing that this was Bradley. Nick hasn't shown himself to be so "creative" in a draft where we have so few picks.
Hope you are right but my main point is I want to know who is really running the show. Last year, and in other years in the past, we've seen no one in Metro management accepting responsibility and everyone at the Metro pointing fingers. They can get away with that because they never really let on who is calling the shots. If Bradley made this picks than he can take the credit or the heat, whatever comes. If NickS dictated the terms, well then say so up front so that he can be held accountable for what happens. Last year, no one took the heat for anything and Nick and OZ always had an excuse or a finger pointed at someone. Personally, I want Bradley doing everything from player selection down to picking the ball boys. Just give him his budget. Nick should worry only about dealing with Stadium issues, marketing and other matters that are important but not related to the play on the field. In fact, he should be in the booth or the stands, but not on the touchline.
Thats the way this entire league works my friend. Its a deeply maddening thing that we have been told we are just supposed to accept because this league is soccer's last chance.... blah , blah, BLECH! Even as the quality and talent rises to a level worthy of the label : First Division, the penny ante 3 card monte crap with near constant allocation gerrymandering, wage invisibility, and near yearly rule reversal all add up to an understandable lack of sporting respect due to the abject failure to establish a fair, competitive design. Its hard to demand that this league recieve its fair share of credit until the veil comes off and ALL its actions are accounted for in the clear, cold light of day.
I disagree. Its not like he came in here handcuffed by cap room or unmovable players. Hes been able to do pretty much what he wants with the roster from the day he got here. (Unlike Sarachan, for instance.) The only job anyone in the organization has is to make the team better. Not to "shake things up" just for the hell of it. There's no reason not to hold him accountable for results this season. Having said that, despite some of your worries about our team as is right now, Bob is well aware of our present defeciencies (wings, fwd's) and our surpluses (d-mid) and will do what it takes to balance the team. PLENTY of time before the season, guys.
Maybe I'm still full of glad tidings of comfort & joy from the Xmas season or maybe I'm just looking forward to this season, but either way I find myself in the rare position of agreeing wholeheartedly with Eric D. For years, the fans have complained that (a) we haven't had any direction and (b) nobody makes wise decisions and (c) we need a really good evaluator of young talent to run this team. Well, now we've hired just such a person. We need to let him have the time to acquire the players he feels he needs and allow those players the time to gell. Anyone who starts screaming about Bradley after we start 2-3-1 is crazy. Bradley has brought in "his" picks. Now let him use the allocation & two discovery picks as he sees fit. As Eric D pointed out, Bradley has done more for this game in the country than most of us can dream of. I have the utmost confidence in his ability to get the job done for Metro as should you. Let the man do his job.
Word Billy Ell, even though your opinions on Clint Mathis is a hoover on his family jewels, you're absolutely right. We now have a team that can contend for the MLS Cup and we're not done wheeling and dealing yet and we also have loads of youth to develop into Demarcus Beasleys and Jim Curtins over the future.
