On the eve of the biggest Michigan game in a decade (and the biggest UM-OSU game since '69), Bo Schembechler passed away today. I am crushed. He's largely responsible for why I went to Michigan, way back in '84. It's a sad, sad day. That said, I feel sorry for OSU. If they win, it's because we were affected by the news; if we win, it's because Bo's spirit singlehandedly kicked their a$$es. PS: Do you think the Dead Schembechlers punk band will change their name now?
very sad day for michigan fans and the world of college football. Thanks for the memories Bo! Now go out and win one for Bo!
I feel a little underdressed, since I don't have a Bo avatar, but man, does tomorrow get even more emotional. I wasn't going to be able to watch, since it is my team's pizza party, but I might have to end it early...
I took pride in having met Bo on a couple of occaisions. He was a class guy who loved to talk and one who cared about everyone of his players. He loved this University -- he was this University. The mood in Ann Arbor today is down. Come tomorrow we'll be back We'll miss you Bo! Lets go Blue!!!!!!
RIP Bo. He is the reason Michigan Football is Michigan Football. From his obit in the NYT Let's Go Blue.
Eulogy from a michigan blogger... more here ... with the improbable ability to draw out the meaning of Bo's death through Sufjan Stevens. http://mgoblog.blogspot.com/2006/11/eleven-swans.html
