I keep reading about this fellow who plays for LA who everyone keeps calling "Bo". I'd guess that makes good sense, since that is what he's got on his jersey.

My question is this: The guy's name is Hong, Myung-Bo. The comma indicates that Hong is his family name. The dash between Myung and Bo indicates that "Myung-Bo" is one name. It could just as easily be written as Myungbo.

So... and I'm honestly not taking the piss here, but really wanting to be enlightened: Does anyone have any idea why his jersey doesn't say "Hong" (which would be the most appropriate - it's what was on his national jersey) or "Myung-Bo"? Was this a mistake that he just never bothered to correct anyone on?

I was disappointed not to see him out for the Revs match. Of course, I would have had no choice but to taunt him mercilessly in Korean (being a Revs fan), but also being a Korean National Fan it would have been hard. (Like justifying my disgust with Olli Kahn the Bayern GK as opposed to my deep adoration of Olli Kahn the German National GK.)

Koreans list last name first. The media/PR folks started listing him correctly about half-way through last season. His first name is Myung-Bo. When he first arrived in LA and started practicing with the team everyone referred to him as Bo (can't remember if he asked or not). For some reason I seem to recall one of his first matches his jersey had "Hong" on the back. However, to make things easy, he asked the team to just put 'Bo' on the back.

He's injured right now and I've a feeling we'll see him this season about as much as we saw Cien last season.

They didn't have any Z's, so they couldn't spell out "BOZO."

Venting just a wee bit there boy ?

Find me a better defender in 3rd rate MLS...you can't. The guy is in his mid 30's and still can defend better than any MLS-lifer who won't have a hell's chance to go to a better league.

Or maybe you're a idiot who earns less than "bozo" 's $350000 + a year. That must be it...you're a lower middle class joe somebody who can't seem to accept that a Oriental with a green card can earn four times the money you're getting ! If that's the case there are plenty more of us to b!tch at.

Try to have a nice day

Seriously, did you see Bo play last year? There have to be at least 20 MLS defenders who had better years than he did, including three or 4 on the LAG. But, your loyalty to this over-the-hill statue is touching.

Taeguk, you need to be a realist. Hong is just not the same dominant defender that he used to be. I do have to agree with the Gals fans who are disappointed with Hong's performance so far. Hong reminds me of many over-the-hill players who came to MLS to make more money in the later stages of their career.

Good one about the dogs, Mike Seagroves. You're obviously too stupid to realize that it's only minority of Koreans who participate in eating dogs. If you want to generalize then all Americans like to sexually abuse their POWs. Any homo tendency for naked Arab males? I'm sure you're pretty turned on.

Hey, did someone order a whiny bitch?

I can at least afford to go to games, which is how I know that every time Hong took the field, it was 10 x 12 instead of 11 x 11. The bloated, putrescent corpse of Chris Farley would have been a better defender than Bozo, if only because opposing forwards would have had to work to get around Farley's corpse. And Galaxy players wouldn't have been saying, "Well, crap, there's Hong again, and he's open...maybe this time he won't pass it right back to Ronnie Ekelund...oh, God DAMMIT!"

If you had spent the extra hour or two on Santa Monica Boulevard, and earned the money to see a game at Victoria Street, you'd know why Hong has gone from K-League all-star to MLS blow-up doll. Because he's lazy. Because he's already retired. Because he doesn't give a ******** about fans like you.

I hope someday you get to meet him, Tea. I hope you say to him, "Wow, you sure were great with the Galaxy." Then you can see his expression, as he looks at you as if you're some deluded, ignorant retard. Because just like the fans know, just like the coaches know, he knows more than anyone else. He quit on us.

That's why he's only got "BO" on the back of his shirt. Because he's not worth any more letters than that.

This is all very cute, but please don't make me moderate, because I enjoy a good laugh as much as anyone. However, the Galaxy forum isn't the venue for Seagroves vs. Bright-eyed Newbie.

I'd prefer not to lock this thread or delete posts, so could we please focus on why Bo sucks vs. why he should be starting, etc.

Speaking of which, [broken record]I'm 1/2 Scottish[/broken record], and I'm not going to Victoria Street until the Galaxy signs a Scottish international and announces Scottish Fan Appreciation Night at HDC. When this happens, I'll bring 4,999 of my Scottish friends, too.

I think the fact that Bo can still play soccer at all is a miracle, considering how badly he destroyed his hip. He was perhaps the best overall athlete on the planet back in the day. And I didn't even know he could play soccer. Damn...

P.S. Hong Myong-Bo is neither as bad as his haters think he is, nor as good as his supporters wish. He's a good back-up center fullback in his last year as a professional player. What's a crying shame is how much of our precious salary cap he eats up, when that money would be better spent where it's needed - in the midfield and in Ruiz's pocket to keep him happy.

So it was you who was one of those three "Scottish" LARS guys with the silly blue and white golf hats who went to the US-Holland friendly in Amsterdam and stole my scarf.

Can you send it back now? in lieu of that, you can make a noose out of it and hang hong.

Hey...thats gotta a neat ring to it "Hang Hong". say that 5 times fast.

Thanks Segroves. You just proved what a moron you are with a statement like that. I won't go as low like you to post a humiliated Iraqi prisoner picture with a statement like "Hey Yank, rape me!" Thanks for making my day.

To stick with the subject about Hong, I would like to see him hang his boots. I much rather remember him as a numerous World All-Star and a WC Bronze Ball Winner then a old struggling has-been in the MLS.

The girls who got ran over the first time were just walking back from school. I say that's PRETTY innocent. Just like the people who perished in WTC in NYC and the Pentagon in DC. So are you condoning Segrove's statement? If you are then you're no different from those idiots in Mexico who chants "Osama" Come on, show me you're better then that. :D

Dude...either fire back at Segroves (who I'm pretty sure can take care of himself) or whine to the moderator, but don't do both. It makes you look like un plus grand tool.

    Dear moderator,

Please show some consitancy and backbone by chopping anyone who:

1 - has posted over 10K on BigSoccer. Seriously, I know life can get a bit lonely but maybe it is time to 'check in' and do some thinking about time management.

2 - is from the midwest...specifically OK. The jokes are all correct and, really, besides garnering votes for subsidising most of the ag coming out of the area - what is it good for...care factor = zero.

Fine, I am a newbie because I rarely post - but I have been reading for yearrs. This thread shows that even interesting topics can be ruined quickly by persons fitting the above two criteria...

    cheers mate

Gee, how original, a mother joke. Segrove has proven himself to be a true innovator.

Hmmmmm.... It's been few hours and our racist Segroves has not been carded yet. I guess I have to go to the Rivalries forum to see if foreign moderators will card me if I make a racist remark because the Gals mods do not have the balls. Once again I'm testing you Gals mods. Show me you're not afraid to punish a dateless loser who's been posting here over 10,000 times. Also show me you're fair.

By the way Segroves, get a life. There's more to life then 10,000 posts in Bigsoccer. You'll find more wonderful things if you get away from your computer once in your life. There are things like girls in our lives. Try to experience it.

Don't you have something better to do than post on the Galaxy boards?

Like dying in a fire perhaps?

or maybe you're feeling a bit hungry?

Moderator's edit - picture of dog deleted, since I'd like to feel hungry sometime today. Please don't post offensive pictures in THIS particular forum. Thanks - Topper

I think we've pretty much drained the life out of this thread. If you really want that evil bastard Seagroves to get a card, you should report the thread to the moderators. There's a cute wee button on your screen you can click to get that process started.

But I'll give you the story of Seagrove's card experience on BS. It pretty much goes like this:

    A) Mike posts something outrageously offensive.

    B) 95% of BS readers realize that (again) Mike is on a mission to pull someone's chain (for now, we'll call that person "the victim").

    C) The victim fires back and demands that Seagroves gets carded.

    D) The moderators converge in their Star Chamber of BS Justice and the top-secret debate goes something like this:

    **************************************

Moderator #1: Hell, I think he's kinda funny.

Moderator #2: He's offensive, and anyone else other than Seagroves would get a yellow for that crap.

Moderator#3: We should hold everyone up to the same standards, and even though mike is xenophobic jerk-off that would rather post on BS than play with his own kids, he can be entertaining at times, unless of course, an episode of "I Love Lucy" happens to be on, which most people would prefer to watch rather than read mike's bullpucky.

Moderator#4: Let's consult the "Magic 8 Ball." Magic 8 ball, should we give Mike a yellow card? **shake**

Moderator#1: What the hell, even the 8 Ball is a cynic at this point. But, I think that moderator #3 is right, we should hold him to same standards as everybody else. If we don't, the others will become just as cynical as the 8-ball.

Moderator #3: Alright, it's agreed. He gets a yellow. I'll PM Aimer, so she can cackle away. Also, someone email Halamadrid to let him know that Mike's gonna get a yellow, so that Mike's lapb!tch and personal attack yorkie can start threads for Mike.
