The team hires Oliver Wyss as their head coach for this next season. Well at least it looks like they will be back for another season. But not sure if hiring a youth club director of coaching is really a step in the right direction. Unless they are planning on going more of a development route. http://uslpro.uslsoccer.com/home/850201.html
To be honest he seems to have better credentials then our prior coach. Who seems to have gotten hired solely based on the fact that he was Iranian. Tom Payne was in charge of the hiring on this one so I am optimistic. This guys story is pretty devastating though. He definitely has to have strength of character. I can't even fathom what he has gone through. http://www.ocregister.com/articles/soccer-630073-camp-hope.html
On another note it shows another positive that a successful lower division can provide. Giving more coaches opportunities to move up the pyramid. If Wyss can put together a competitive side at this club and finishes high on the table he could find himself in high demand. Given the budgets this club has it will take a special coach and GM to piece together a team that can make a run.
He seems committed to the success of this club. Hopefully he can instill that in some of the players. There needs to be a feeling of passion for the club by those who play there. Instead of merely treating it as a possible stepping stone toward bigger things.
