Wow. What a bunch of f*cking Pricks in SuckCal stealing our colors. MLS is WEAK for letting this happen.
Except that their home kits are white and...yellow. Their roads are dark blue. I wouldn't flip about it. Let's just acknowledge that they're a bunch of boring, bland Real Madrid wannabe posers and move on.
Whatever. We wont be able to cheer on our "Boys in Blue", seeing as that'll apply to them also. The NHL would NEVER allow something like this to happen. Geographically close teams cant even share the same colors.
No, because (1) our colors in the still-existing MLS were never red, white and black to begin with, and (2) the fallacy's new colors aren't the same as ours. Their new shade of blue is nowhere near our shade of blue (if anything, I'd be more upset if I was a New England Revolution fan, since the fallacy "stole" their primary color). JazzyJ absolutely has a top contender for Line of the Year here when, in support of keeping the 2000-2005 era logo, wordmark, colors and such, he wrote: GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
Which pair of teams has more similar colors: a) New York Rangers and New York Islanders? b) San Jose Earthquakes and Los Angeles Galaxy?
You're blowing this WAY out of proportion. We're blue, they're dark blue. They're not the same color. We can still root for our boys all we want.
Having now seen their new kit/logo, I'm not too worked up about their colors. However, on a more league-wide, graphics issue--can ANYONE design a soccer logo in this country that doesn't involve a "shield" shape???!!!??? C'mon, guys...show a little f***in' creativity here, will ya! I know there is war in Iraq, homelessness, hunger, environmental and education issues that far outweigh this in the grand scope of things deserving one's outrage. Let's just say this one is climbing my 'pet peeves' chart with a bullet!
Well, at least give LA Galaxy credit for upgrading themelves. The logo and kit and Beckham is supposed to translate into money and attendance for all the MLS teams... just wish the Earthquakes were still active to get some of that money and attendance. So, Mr. Wolff, where are we at today with the stadium, and logo, and kits, and players, and tickets, and tv deals, and...whatever?
It will be interesting to see what, if anything, is done by the new ownership in terms of team colors. Being "old", I don't have much issue with the "old" red, white and black kits from the NASL days, but then I don't have any issue with the MLS blue either. In the long run, the colors are very far down on my list of issues, regardless.
Not having grown up watching the NASL quakes and in light of their logo and colors being hideous in my opinion... I'm hoping they stick with MLS Quakes blue.
You nailed it on the head however, the logos & teams grow hand in hand with your loyalties ....Who do most of us remember or want to remember in their jersey's? The Bad Worst Jerseys Ever OR
Yeah, those were NOT the days. You know they saying, "they don't make them like they used to".... Well in some cases that is a good thing.
Never mind what we now think of Baby Judas. This home uniform (2000-2002 version)... ... remains by far the best-looking uniform (logo, wordmark, colors, design, etc.) in the history of Bay Area pro soccer, and among the best in American pro soccer history. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
That's the one I bought, wore to every home game there after and have yet to wash (Good luck will rub off in the washer you know )
I must agree that was their best. But part of me is also fond of the 2005 jersey... not sure why. I know I'm probably alone in that.
Ironically, when MLS first began, there were only a few "shield shape" logos. A common complaint among fans at the time was that the league needed more of them. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
Me, too. There's also a lot to be said about Goodsie's point that the 2000-01 uniform is the best looking of them all.
We would probably want to keep 'em blue due to tradition and, if nothing else, the swarms of fans in blue who have been turning out to Quakes-related events in the effort to bring them back. BTW - Falvo, whose Red NASL Quakes jersey is that on the wall of the Stevens Creek Tony and Alba's? (only caught a quick glance).
i think it would be awesome if the earthquakes wore retro uniforms for a few games with the red and black logo, while still haveing the blue primary kit
