He acknowledged it was A driver. It's perfectly Trumpian. He's putting one of his pets in danger for his own purposes. <sigh> When I was a little boy, I had a book that one of my parents had when they were little. It was a book about the American flag. In the early days, they added a star AND a stripe for every state, but figured out pretty quickly that those stripes were going to get very thin real quick. So they went back to 13 stripes. As to that particular case, it's nauseating that all the LEOs had their body cams off. The chief has already been fired, which is especially insulting because he was scheduled to retire very soon. I mean, not as insulting as being murdered by the police, but pretty darned insulting.
I have a question...what might make the protests stop? Maybe if all 4 cops had been arrested last Thursday we'd have a path for that. But as it is, they've obviously taken on a momentum of their own. VB and Raleigh are both under rolling curfews. No promised end date. My copy of Nixonland is back at the house in Raleigh so I can't see how long the MLK protests lasted. (But I'm not even sure that's enough on point to matter...the State isn't going to be as heavy handed now as it was then, and this time around housing desegregation has spread out the AA population, and there are too many white allies, and this time there's Antifa and right wing agitators.)
I think this is a more broad political effort that isn’t going away - Justice for (insert all the names here) - Police reform Police murders are the symptom. I posted earlier what I think needs to happen As far as police reform goes In short - Cultural Change (thin blue line) - malpractice insurance (removes taxpayer burden from civil suits) - “whistle blower” protection (against bad actors) - national registry ( to prevent fired cops from just getting hired elsewhere)
One party will try to tackle those ingrained policing issues. The other will wave a flag and ignore those issues like they don't even exist. Vote accordingly.
One of a few things happened here: A police officer shot the shot that killed him - So the bullet can likely be forensically identified as to which officers gun it came from. Bring in every officer who was within 5 blocks of when the shot was fired and have a discharged bullet from each gun analyzed to identify the shooter / gun. A National Guardsman shot him - If the National Guard was issued sidearms / rifles, the ammunition will be easily identified as not a cop round and any National Guardsman who doesn't return a full load of ammo has to have their issued weapons have a bullet from that gun analyzed for confirmation that it was or was not their gun. One of either a police officer or national guardsman shot the killing round with their own legal or illegal fire arm - all of them should have all of their personal effects searched to determine & confiscate any non GFE arms. Some other randomly discharged gun from a non LEO / NG troop killed him. This is highly unlikely.
That happened Sunday night, so there's been time for the city to say something about this. The Louisville police chief was fired afterward, but that was for the fact that his officers weren't using their bodycams. Beyond that . . .I understand that investigating takes time. But they're not talking to the press/public enough about what they have done and are doing; without that, it seems like they're doing nothing. And maybe they *are* doing nothing. Nobody knows, and that's the point.
“... Reverend at St. John’s Church Says Clergy Was Tear Gassed to Clear Church For Trump’s ‘Cheap Political Stunt’ ...They started using tear gas and folks were running at us for eyewashes or water or wet paper towels. At this point, Julia, one of our seminarians for next year (who is a trauma nurse) and I looked at each other in disbelief,” she continued, adding, “I was coughing, her eyes were watering, and we were trying to help people as the police – in full riot gear – drove people toward us.” https://www.mediaite.com/trump/reve...lear-church-for-trumps-cheap-political-stunt/
This is not a good day for Donnie... BREAKING: Extraordinary. Wait, what I thought the mayor and governor in Minnesota were both democrats? It is the unions fault you say? Well what party supports unions (the Republicans have done everything they can to completely eliminate unions, not that that is a good thing, but the point is valid)? The problem is a bit more complex and deeply rooted than to simply say vote Dem. They don't seem to be tackling them very well in Minnesota or LA or NYC or St Louis, or.... Note: this post in no way endorses trump or any particular party.
I don't believe the Dept. of Deception regarding just about...well everything. But a worthwhile coverup attempt by them (golf clap)
Lol. Republicans dont do "good government" and they They don't even like half-assed barely functioning government
Not sure if it needs to continue, but please take it to the proper thread if so.@charlie15 and @celito Thanks in advance.
