Since Chicago and Columbus both won yesterday, it puts us further behind... 6) Kansas City, 32 pts (23 gms) 7) Columbus, 31 pts (23 gms) 8) Mutts, 29 pts (21 gms) 9) Revs, 22 pts (21 gms) 10) DC Utd, 22 pts (21 gms) Only 28 matches in the season. At our current point per match average, that would put as at 29. All we'd have to do is hope the Mutts lose all the rest of their games...
Both us and the Mutts have 7 games left, one head-to-head the last day of the season. They are up by 7 points on us, so if we beat them, we would still need to make up 4 points. We have Chicago twice and they get to play Hudson's Hagovers who haven't scored a goal since Alexi Lalas was a still considered a "star," three, count 'em, three times. They also play Dallas twice and LA once, so there's the chance that they could lose some points there. We need to make up points from Columbus, Colorado, Dallas, and DC United. Nope, it doesn't look good.
.,,. why mask it? this team doesn't deserve the false sense of accomplishment that being 3rd worst would bring
Y'know, I've been following this team long enough that...hell, I'd take it. But it ain't gonna happen anyway. Columbus looked like the (possible) weak link. Their clutch win against the Galaxy almost certainly killed the Rev's hopes for the playoffs (barring a "parting of the waters" caliber miracle). Who would have thought it back in February - and with 7 games left? Unreal. But I'm still going to enjoy the rest of the games...
Tell me about it. I remember in March when I saw who they picked up. I thought, "If they can't have a decent season with these players, then..." I guess I'll have to think hard about the "then" part.
always next year When can I stop looking forward to next year and start looking forward to next Saturday?
As far as I can see I don't think we should be chasing the Mutts, but instead look at KC and Columbus. Columbus has (5) games left - @ KC, NE, @SJ, CHI, @ CHI KC has (5) games left - CBus, @ LA, CHI, COL, @ COL We're 9-10 points behind these two teams where we play 2 extra games. KC has been playing pretty poorly lately and doesn't have the easiest schedule left. The combined record of their opponents is 38-36-14 and after the drubbing Chicago gave them the other night I wouldn't want to play them again. Columbus on the other hand plays us and KC two teams fighting for their playoff lives. Not to mention they play Chicago twice (who they are battling for the top spot in the east) and SJ who is the best team in the league. Not the easiest schedule if you ask me.
