1) He was doing his job, escorting an ejected player off the field. 2) Even if it wasn't his job, that's no justification for Blanco to physically assault him. I haven't heard one witness say that the guy did anything to provoke the head butt.
if a "senior executive" of DC United saw the incident in question I would be inclined to believe that information from this person would make its way to MLS rather quickly. KP, or whoever, isn't the type of person to sweep something like this under the rug. If Blanco spit on the 4th official I can't imagine any referee in USSF not reporting such an occurrence in the match report. It's still early days folks. Let the system work.
Really?!?! You must be kidding yourself! As with every professional league in the United States player conduct on and off the field rather it be real or perceived should be taken seriously and with great caution by league officials. Just as if I were to go and assault someone I could lose my security clearance and my position, after my employer conducts an investigation into the facts. Blanco may suffer a lot of fouls, but he is just as guilty of committing them. He should be treated no differently then any other player/employee of MLS when it comes to professional conduct. I wasn't at the game so I profess to know nothing about the events that may have transpired but as a fan of this league and the sport, the allegations need to be investigated and taken extremely seriously by USSF and MLS, and we as fans and supporters of this sport should pressure them to take action.
Really. That was his job. It's funny, because pretty much every other ejected player I've ever seen has been escorted by police or security or a member of their own staff. Oh, and could you please clarify what happened, because some of you are saying that Blanco was attacking the 4th official and this heroic staffer intervened and you're saying that he was there to escort the players off the field. Never said it was. Not that I think that they would, but that's generally why stadium personnel, police/security and or a member of the ejected player's staff escorts them off the field and not someone from the opposing team. That sort of separation ensure that there is no provocation
I got this official scoop from my friend who is best friends with a person on staff at DC, who said that the staffer in question said something to Blanco about his mother, because we (being DC United) don't take kindly to people having a more evil reputation than we do. Then I talked to his cousin who works in MoCo police who said that Blanco not only assaulted one of the security, but then proceeded to rip the head off another one and drink the blood, then spat it up in the air like fountain and all over the lockeroom. I talked to Blanco via text message (got the number from the police report) and he said that yeah he did it, but that the cops understood because the officiating was so poor and they all laughed about it around 3am when they went to get donuts and sip whiskey. So I called my cousin's brother-in-law who works at MLS HQ in NY to try to confirm it, and all he would say is that an umarked black chopper left the city late last night without a destination, but he did see a team of black clad people with lots of cleaning supplies get on just before take off. To get some reaction on the whole thing I called my old college teammate from freshman year who I haven't talked to since and asked him what he thought since I knew he was a Fire fan back then, and he said that he heard that Blanco was ejected for arguing with a referee for not protecting his beautiful pedicure. I emailed Goff at his personal address (cause we're tight like that) and he just responded with "zzzzz". So, piece that all together and somewhere therein lies the truth.
Hi, I'm Don Garber. While we don't condone the act of our players ripping the head off of police officers and drinking their blood, we do believe that passion is the best part of our game. I don't believe a word any of you fans are saying. In fact, I blame Simms and Burch for this. I also blame the French, just because I can. Please refrain from discussing our black choppers. With gas prices the way they are, we here at MLS HQ have no other way of getting around town. Plus, once Red Bull Park is presumably finished, we will need the choppers when we disband the Red Bulls and put a REAL team in the new stadium. This will look like a scene out of the fall of Saigon, with all 5 Red Bulls fans rushing toward the helicopters as we make a mad dash out of the area. Again, there really isn't much to see here. You are all mistaken. Thanks! Commissioner Don Garber P.S. Buy some tickets!
First and foremost, this is a USSF matter. It happened to be two MLS teams playing each other but as was the case last night, that was the only game involving two MLS teams. So jurisdiction lies with USSF, which has the authority to suspend players among any of its members. For instance, if Blanco is found to have spit on the fourth official, USSF can suspend him for any sanctioned match, which includes MLS. As for the league, they may take action if they think his actions were harmful to the league's reputation. At best, probably some fine. But this was not a league match last night and if they don't do anything, it is well within their authority.
And yet you continue in a matter of fact manner based upon second hand reports. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Oh, and maybe in Chicago police/security escort ejected players from the field. In DC a memeber of the staff directs the player and and team staff as to where the player shoudl exit. Please feel free to continue this is entertaining. Nobeltea has nothing on you.
mls has come to conclusion on there investigation already: burch suspened for year due to making blanco falldown. blanco fined 5 pesos
Max, the VW spokesbeetle, is also under investigation for attempting to run down Blanco after the game. When questioned about the incident he said, "It's vhat the people vanted."
I don't know about Nobletea's bartender but I do intend on asking mine at around 5:15 today. I'll get back to you with the scoop.
Hey guys here's my response to those that are defending Blanco in the Other Thread saying that we won't know what happened until something official comes out: Hes known for this crap, and got suspended for a while by CONMBOL if i remember right for his actions which were criminal during this game.
