Saddam Hussein Trained Al Qaeda Fighters LONDON (Reuters) - British Prime Minister Tony Blair's promised dossier on Iraq is to reveal that Saddam Hussein trained some of Osama Bin Laden's key lieutenants, the Sunday Telegraph reported. Full story
I'd want to know when those guys were trained. If it was in preparation for September 11, then allow me to be the first lefty to do an embarrassing, waffling flip-flop and say that we should invade. You know what, though, that's not a flip-flop. If Blair had evidence that Saddam's regime was involved in September 11, he should never have sat on it for this long. He should have given it to Bush about a year ago - at least, before the guy flapped his gums in front of the UN. And if he only now just found out about it....well, I've got to question Bush and Blair's motivations for invading Iraq without this knowledge before now. It's academic if there's anything to it. And there's been a hell of a lot more evidence that Saudi Arabia was involved up to their eyeballs. Wouldn't it be easier to take over SA and Kuwait, and use those as bases/colonies to invade Iraq, rather than leave our flanks open to the...well, okay, it's not like the Saudi military would win a pitched battle against the Las Vegas Police Department, so never mind.
We already know of a nation that is undemocratic, harbors citizens from an enemy nation, and is responsible for training the guys that flew the airplanes into New York and the Pentagon. That nation is Florida. We begin bombing in 5 minutes.
