Revelatory for some, common sense for others. Many supporters thought that sacking Roy would be a cure-all but unfortunately, it's not that simple. With the likes of Johnson, Poulsen and Jovanovic clogging the starting 11, one's hope sinks 100 metres below the ground. Those who think that Babel will pan out some day need to get a grip. He's had 3 years to have a go, ffs. This are not LFC quality and steps need to be taken to bring in that quality.
Really? Link me. I say no one - literally no one - believed that. Of those, only Johnson has a regular starting spot. Jovanovic and Poulsen probably have fewer than 10 Liverpool games between them. Again - revelatory. Our squad needs improving? Who knew? That's astonishing insight. Any updates on that Lucas situation? We're all in the dark here and you've clearly got the inside track.
I understand that, but at the same time the undoubtedly world class training performances Jova, Kuyt, Maxi, Ngog and Cole are having is not metamorphosing into decent/good first team games. Babel has has had 4 starts all season in which he's scored in 2 and got an assist in another, in fact the only time he started in 2 back to back games he produced in both. Its not like the amazing form of his competitors is keeping him out the side. We are so poor on one wing that everybody wants us to play a RB back there. I really want to see these training sessions were Jova has warranted 5 back to back starts without doing anything of use in the actual games.
Why hasn't someone started a 'Dalglish GTFO' thread already? The guy clearly is going to ruin his reputation by calling on his tactical nouse from the decade before last. The players don't have the ability to play pass and move and lets face it, a midfield partnership of Lucas and Poulsen doesn't even warrant a top 10 team nevermind top 6. So kick and rush it is and if thats the best we've got I don't think a lack of talented players is going to be our problem anymore. I'd rather blame Hodgson from now on than tarnish our greatest player, but fans these days are so fickle and expect instant results, sadly even the great LFC fans have become so deluded and desperate for success, even from a bunch of average players. Our greatest chance left with Alonso and Mascherano, accept it we've had a mountain to climb since, and whoever is in the hotseat is going to look bad. I've said it before Dalglish is a leader of champions not chumps, these Benetiz rejects will ruin him.
How about a Frosty GTFO thread? Really, now that your grandfather has been fired, you can stop pretending to support the team.
thanks for that recap Mr. Sky Sports. (really why do you post here? and where were you after Blackburn, wolves, and Woys firing?)\
Because that would be sillier even than every one of your posts here? Once again, you need to question your motivation for posting. Are you defending Hodgson? Criticising Kenny? Playing the uber-fan? Whining pointlessly?
Here's one. Also, see the responses to my suggestion that Babel needs to be shipped out. https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?p=22481052#post22481052 I said, the "likes". I could add Maxi, Skrtel, Koncesky, Raul, etc. I have no idea what you're on about Lucas. Perhaps you can tell me how I feel about Lucas who, by the way, is one of the better players this season. Have you anything relevant to further add? I find your posts quite reactionary and really reveal nothing as to how you really feel about the state of things. Please tell me which players you are think can make a go of it with Dalglish and which players need to be shipped out. I'd love to hear your reply, but would you risk others criticizing your views? Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Your example doesn't show what you think it does. The poster clearly adds that a change in playing personnel is also needed. He just makes the removal of Hodgson the focal point, which is entirely correct. So that inappropriate example notwithstanding, the overall point stands: saying "gosh, some of our players might not be up to this," ranks up there with "wow - water is wet,". your lack of judgement is quite troubling. Of those, only Konchesky has no role to play in the squad as we go forward. But sure, we'll sell Mereiles, he's had almost two poor games. Water is wet. I've made my views on Lucas known in multiple threads on many occasions. Decent enough player on paper whose footballing brain is too slow for a dominant role in a Premiership midfield. But hey, it's all Mereiles' fault. That's because you're clearly paying about as much attention to the debates around here as you are to the football. Talk about mailing it in. I can only work with what I'm given and your contributions add up to "everyone is crap, we need new players". You'll have to get used to people stopping by occasionally and giving it the old " no shit, Sherlock". Arf ... and I shall see you on Calais Sands at dawn, epées at the ready! It's the Internet, chum. Relax. Lucas, Babel, Konchesky need to go. Two have had four years to become dependable first teamers, the third was never going to be good enough. Aurelio should never have been given a long contract, good player though he can be. Insua should be brought back from Galatasaray and no more said of the matter. Warnock and he will be more than sufficient down the left. And we should go on bended knee to Acquilani and see if he fancies another crack at the Premier League. Beyond that, we need expensive first teamers, so the squad players we currently have in our first eleven most weeks can go back to the bench and create a sense of competition. We need a second striker, a wide player out left and a central midfielder. Another centre-back should be considered in the summer if Skretl doesn't recover form and confidence, but otherwise we should be looking to Wilson, Ayala and Agger to compete with him for staring roles next season. Carragher is of course still going to be a feature too. That's it. Beyond that it's coaching and mentality.
Agree with most of what you said about the squad except Lucas, not necessarily as a starter but offers more depth to the midfield, but do you really feel Aquilani is worth another gamble. Juve are just as poor as they were last season and are over reliant on Krasic and Quagliarella. While its true his fitness has improved dramatically, this is already the 2nd most league starts in his career, playing well in Italy is no indicator of him doing consistently well in England( the Doss is ever present for 2nd place Napoli ) as the midfield is often given more time and space. The £12m and wages it free's up would be better used elsewhere IMO.
I'm not bothered about Lucas as squad fodder. We tried that back when we had The Best Midfield In The World and it never convinced - they guy has knocked up nearly 150 appearances in four years, without becoming the player he briefly promised to be in his first season with us. Time to move on- Spearing and Shelvey (albeit not identical players) are worthy of a chance in a rebalanced midfield in the coming years. time to cut our losses and give someone else a chance. There should be no room for someone who experiences life a second slower than the rest of us. As to Aquilani, he's a skilful, ball-playing midfielder who showed that he could contribute in the hustle and bustle of a Premiership midfield (second highest assist count in the EPL or something, if I recall Paul T correctly). Juve's woes are defensive, they've got the second-highest GF in Serie A. And besides, their form and Aquilani's value as a player are hardly analogous are they? One is one of many factors in the other. More importantly he's already ours. that £12m (or whatever) would only be spent on a like-for-like, but necessarily on an entirely unknown quantity. We're not in a position to be cavalier with the quality players we do have. Who knows how much better we would have fared this season if we'd had him in the mix. If nothing else, it would have spared us watching Poulsen amble about like a pensioner at a warehouse rave.
