Ouch, The Demon received a straight red card for a head butt when he had a second half penalty appeal turned down. Ian Holloway interviewed after the game, his first taste of the Blackpool vs PKE derby said, Speaking about Demon's sending off and also a very open and honest opinion on the game, Ollie said, Demon will now miss the next three first team matches, and Ollie spoke of his frustration,
The reserves are in action again tomorrow night. An away game against Oldham Athletic, at Ewen Fields, Hyde, Tameside (non-league club Hyde United's stadium). First teamers expected to play are: Gary Taylor-Fletcher, Daniel Nardiello, Rob Edwards, Joe Martin and Al Bangura.
Blackpool line-up: Mark Halstead Jake Rooney Joe Martin Rob Edwards Ash Eastham Al Bangura Gary Taylor-Fletcher Daniel Nardiello Louis Almond Adam Foster Danny Mitchley Subs: Joe Potts (GK) Ben Breakall Jake Forshaw Kurt Bradley Tom Barkhuizen
The final score was 4-3 to Oldham, but more importantly than the result was that Gary Taylor-Fletcher and Daniel Nardiello both played and scored. Ian Holloway is said to be unhappy though with the performance of some first-teamers, as Blackpool lost to a youthful Oldham side despite fielding a number of first team players. Blackpool goals were scored by Taylor-Fletcher (2) and Nardiello and
The reserve team are in action on Wednesday evening. Wrexham are the visitors to Bloomfield Road, kick-off 7:00pm. Paul Rachubka, Rob Edwards, Joe Martin, Gary Taylor-Fletcher and Daniel Nardiello are all expected to play.
Keeper Paul Rachubka will play only his second ever reserve game for Blackpool tonight. Team: Paul Rachubka Ben Breakall Joe Martin Ash Eastham Rob Edwards Kurt Bradley Adam Foster Danny Mitchley Gary Taylor-Fletcher Louis Almond Daniel Nardiello Subs: Mark Halstead (GK) Jake Rooney Jake Forshaw Liam Tomsett Tom Barkhuizen
Rob Edwards and teenage striker Louis Almond scored for the reserves last night in a 2-3 defeat to Wrexham. Pool centre-half Ash Eastham was sent off in the second half. He was given a straight red card for a professional foul.
The reserves are in action on Wednesday afternoon when they travel to Rossendale United's Dark Lane ground in the village of Newchurch, East Lancashire, to take on Rochdale! Danny Coid will finally return to action for the first time since fracturing his tibia in a pre-season game, ironically against Rochdale. Other first team hopefuls will be Joe Martin, Rob Edwards, Neal Eardley, Ishmel Demontagnac and Gary Taylor-Fletcher.
This afternoons game was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. A huge blow to Danny Coid who was looking to make his comeback today. Coid said of the game being postponed:
Blackpool's reserve home match against PKE next week has been postponed because the Nobbers are involved in the FA Youth Cup. It is a blow for referee Mark Halsey, who was earmarked to take charge of a game for the first time since undergoing surgery to remove a cancerous tumour in his throat.
The reserves were due to play this afternoon, but the game has been postponed due to a frozen pitch. They should have been playing Rochdale at Rossendale United F.C.'s Dark Lane ground in the village of Newchurch, East Lancashire. It would have meant action for fringe players like Mark Halstead, Ishmel Demontagnac, Danny Mitchley and Louis Almond. The fixture had already been postponed once in December due to a waterlogged pitch, and yet another new date has to be arranged.
The reserves are again due to play on Wednesday, this time away to Wrexham at Globe Way stadium, Buckley, Flintshire, North East Wales - the home of Buckley Town, who play in the Cymru Alliance, the second tier of Welsh football. Though of course Wrexham play in the English football league system, like other Welsh clubs including Cardiff City, Swansea City and Newport County. Kick-off is 7:00pm, though Wrexham have already stated that the game might not go ahead as officials at the stadium had reported waterlogged areas of the pitch on Tuesday. They will look at it again tomorrow morning, and if a pitch inspection is required, then a request will be made to the Football League for an official to be appointed to do it.
No surprise, after a pitch inspection, the reserves game was called off due to a waterlogged and part frozen pitch. Blackpool have revealed that they had named a strong line-up. A real shame for those players who were hoping that they might be able to force their way into the first team squad for the Reading game on Saturday.
Another match is due to be played! Blackpool are expected to name a strong line up for the game (no doubt hoping that it actually goes ahead.....) with the visit of Morecambe to Bloomfield Road on Wednesday. Kick-off 7:00pm.
Todays game has been brought forward to 2pm and there is exclusive audio commentary on Tangerine World on the BFC official site. Blackpool have as expected named a strong line-up, eight players with first team experience. Striker Stephen McPhee also returns to action for the first time in ten months. Mark Halstead Neal Eardley Joe Martin Kieran D'Arcy Jake Forshsaw Stephen Husband Ishmel Demontagnac Louis Almond Stephen McPhee Jason Euell Danny Mitchley Subs: Joe Potts (GK) Bill Breakall Jake Rooney Kurt Bradley Tom Barkhuizen
Blackpool are apparently 3-1 up at half time. 1-0 Danny Mitchley 1-1 penalty 2-1 Demon 3-1 Danny Mitchley Demon apparently started well, with Stephen Husband, in his first full game in tangerine, playing very well.
Final score was 4-3 to Blackpool. The two Scottish Stephens were playing "firsts" today. For striker Stephen McPhee it was his first game back from injury in 10 months and he lasted 60 minutes. No idea if he is good enough for the first team anymore as I really can't recall what he is like as a player! And for 19 year old midfielder Stephen Husband, it was his first full game in tangerine, and he impressed the 100 or so Pool supporters at the game. With Blackpool ending the game with 7 youth team players in the team it was no surprise that the game fizzled out with no more home goals added to the four scored.
Video interview and match report from the game at the link below. Reserve team manager (and youth team manager!) Gary Parkinson interviewed by the Blackpool Gazette on their "Gazette TV". http://www.blackpoolgazette.co.uk/sports-video/Reserves-back-to-winning-ways.6103040.jp
Another strong reserve team line up for this afternoon's away game against Rochdale. Kick-off is 2:00pm. Paul Rachubka Danny Coid Andy Butler Jake Forshsaw Jake Rooney Al Bangura Stephen Husband Ishmel Demontagnac Stephen McPhee Danny Mitchley Billy Clarke Subs: Mark Halstead (GK) Adam Foster Kurt Bradley Bill Breakall Louis Almond
Despite a string line-up the Seasiders lost 3-0. To make it worse, Danny Coid had to come off with a hamstring injury and Al Bangura was sent off for two bookable offences. They are in action again on Wednesday, away to Accrington Stanley, kick-off 2:00pm.
Todays game was moved from Accrington Stanleys Crown Ground to the home of Clitheroe FC, Shawbridge. In a very youthful team, Stephen McPhee continues his comeback and is joined by Al Bangura, Ishmel Demontagnac, Danny Mitchley and Louis Almond. Team: Chris Kettings Bill Breakall Jake Rooney Al Bangura Biko Younda Kieran D'Arcy Stephen McPhee Kurt Bradley Louis Almond Ishmel Demontagnac Danny Mitchley Subs: Joe Potts (GK) Liam Tomsett Adam Foster Josh Roberts Tom Barkhuizen
The reserves lost 4-3 to Accrington Stanley. Ishmel Demontagnac, Danny Mitchley and Kieran D'Arcy scored for the Seasiders. No surprise they lost really given that it was virtually the youth team with a few fringe first team squad players.
Next Wednesday, the reserves are in action at Bloomfield Road against Rochdale, kick-off 7:00pm. The club are hoping for a crowd of at least 500 and are offering free entry. They require a minimum of 500 fans in attendance to test the South stand in preparation for the official opening against Crystal Palace on 20th March.
The game on Wednesday will also see Premier League referee Mark Halsey officiating as he returns to duties following his struggle with cancer. In 2009 he underwent surgery to remove a cancerous tumor in his throat and is now in remission. He finally returned to refereeing last week, overseeing the reserve match between Leicester City and Scunthorpe United at Hinckley Uniteds ground. He continues his return by officiating reserve matches, then hopes to do some Football League games, before a return eventually to the Premier League. One of the more popular referees in England, it is good to see him back. (Did I really just say that about a ref?) It will though be a big deal for him as he becomes the first ref to oversee a game at Bloomfield Road with the new South stand open.
