Scholes gave up on this game. thats why a number of times, he just passed the ball into a group of blackburn players. This wasn't just a bad day for Scholes as far as the match goes... he seems frustrated/irritated or something.

In the end of the game, he was on the edge of the box in two different scenarios and both times with two defenders in front of him, he just played a lame pass right to them and the look on his face after suggested that he was fed up with something.

Berbatov isnt just killing our attacks, he seems like he's killing the teams moral. He blames everyone on the field. He was just complaining at his teammates a number of times and seemed to never accept responsibility for his own ******** ups. Quite frankly, it looks like the team is fed up with him.

How can Nani and Valencia do something about their final abll, when most of the time, this guy is jogging into the box and not even trying to cut across his marker or anything. Its like he expects someone to play the perfect cross, as he doesnt want to do anywork to beat the defender to the ball.

Then the tame efforts on goal...FFS this guy controlled the ball with no one on him then just flung the ball forward to NO ONE under no pressure and just stood there.

This guy ********ing got pushed after the attempted one two with Valencia and his stayed down for more than 5 minutes.. no really WTF is that about?

Ferdinand, Giggs and O'Shea all doubts for the derby.

i actually thought Scholes played well today... just not much to play to. he spotted Gary beautifully on that one cross field ball which he headed to Berba... which he shot right into Robinson.

every team has blips... just sucks that ours has reared its head again at this crucial point in the season.

Aww, so its Berbatovs fault that Nani and Valencia could not pass the ball at all?
Berbatov got punched in the face by Grella. Grella really is a scumbag. That point where he made a dive after no contact from Scholes and then motioned for a yellow card was one of the worst things I have seen this season. I hope he dies a painful death.

Man United assistant Mike Phelan: "You start looking now for other results to go for you. We didn't get the rub of the green in the final third and our selection wasn't good. We cannot rely on Wayne, he is having an exceptional season, but this is Manchester United and other players have to show why we bought them to this club in the first place."

Its not just Berbatov's fault, but his problems are the ones that seem to affect the team the most.

I didnt see Berbatov get punched in the face. I saw him get body checked at best, and sit there for too damn long. We had even built two attacks before he got back up. The team didnt even believe he was hurt or else we would have put it out.

exactly. let's hope the staff make our team aware of this today. though i'm sure they are just as disappointed with the performance as all of us.

Im all for blooding the youngsters for the final few games.... but not against City, cant help them achieve that fourth placed finish now

Berbatov played some nice passes but it was infuriating to see him spend most of this time on the half way line almost being a playmaker. His not a Rooney who can start a move in his half and then in seconds run on to the end of a ball in to the opposition box.

There was a moment in the first half where giggs played a low cross across the goal and no one got anywhere near it. Berbatov is just not the type of player to get on the end of balls. A very skillful player but one which is not suited to our style of play nor the mentality of it. I would love to see him sold if we get anything like a reasonable fee for him.

The first half I thought we controlled the ball very well and it was reflected in our possession stats, but as usual apart from the second valencia chance, I never felt like we would unlock them.

Im probably the biggest critic of Gary Neville, and I still wish he would retire, but he was one of the few people out there today who was stepping up the energy desperate for us to score a winner. I dont see too many players like that in our side. We missed Rooney out there.... and also Fletcher, but its understandable he needed a rest.

We need to go in to next season with more match winners out there. Here is hoping to a very successful summer on the transfer front.

The truth. Such an unbelievably crappy week for MUFC. I can't even comment on this horrid game either.

Meanwhile, it's spring outside, so I'm going to sublimate the anger, disappointment, and frustration I'm feeling, pushing it all deep down and ignoring it, hoping it will go all away. :)

It's been such a horrid week that I'm hoping the Chicharito signing is the silverlining.

This big time. I am glad someone else noticed it out there. I've watched this team a long time, and Scholes has always been one of our fiercest competitors to the end. It sort of goes hand in hand with a Scholesy special if you will.

But he did not seem right out there. He did appear to give up which is not like him at all. Something is up, and I think, today for the first time, I got the sense that he is done and his head is elsewhere....

Maybe he knows its going to be a transitional year and feels he doesn't have the energy or fight to go through that again....

I see what you guys are saying. But I do feel he has been asked to play a lot more football in the last three weeks than he should of done and I wouldnt be surprised if thats the main reason for this.

That said, as far as I remember he said he wouldnt talk about next year until the summer, so there is every chance he could call it a day. This would certainly cause us a lot of problems with Anderson seriously injured, carrick in the dog house and permanent question marks over Hargreeves.

A world class midfielder and an upcoming one (Rodwell) would do wonders for this situation tho.... Ah sorry I was dreaming :p

In fames like this last season, we had carlos tevex to bail us out. This game was screaming for someone to lift the team like regulalrly did for us.

The boss makes few mistakes but the carlos tevez alienation/unwarrantted beliefe in dimitar is. Even bigger than the tranfer window that saw us sign a bunch of flops.

He also got it wrong when he let RVN go and kept Saha
i was so frustrated today watching BOREbatov i couldn't even speak, the cuss fcuks and fcuks off's and other bad things were there on the tip of my tongue but i jus couldn't get them out, maybe because i've sen him play like this almost everytime.
As for Nani he was jus a headache and just as annoying to watch as BOREbatov, he seemed to be trying to get the Guinness World Record for most bad passes n a game

I think he got sick of 90 minutes of having literally nobody showing for the ball. That (and a lack of Fletcher to control the midfield better) was our biggest porblem today, imo.

A mistake yes, though the very purchase of Berbatov was the real mistake, in hindsight if he had just signed Tevez outright that summer it would have been far better. Having bought Berbatov two years back we simply could not afford to buy Tevez last year. We also likely had little-to-no chance of getting Tevez last summer, even if he was still on good terms with Fergie. His agent/owner/whatever was only selling to the highest bidder, and that was that imo.

If we sold Saha and kept RVN, we never would have won the league in 2006/07. Fact.

    Johno are you okay?
    Are you okay Johno?

Silly statement. Saha was a perfect fit for this team at that time and RVN was not.

The only problem was Saha suddenly became a major injury liability and SAF could not have seen that coming. He was completely fine throughout his career up until he joined us.

Unrelated comment (sort of)....I turned to the game so I could watch the 2nd half, and there's a rugby game going on where the soccer game should be. But one of the teams is wearing bright pink uniforms. There's nothing more entertaining than big, fat guys playing rugby wearing pink shirts, tight pink shorts  and knee high pink socks.

Hopefully the soccer game will start soon.....so I can chime in with who's fault this really is. I'm interested to see about benni's idea that Scholes is just fed up.

All those wasted points now like that early season stinker against Burnley are coming to haunt us now.

Anyone else read the rumours from goal.com that say we're not interested in Villa anymore because of cost? Even with this apparently lack of scoring depth, it really looks like we aren't going to make a transfer splash in the summer. ******** the debt.

    anyway...

saw the game was disappointed with Berbatov...again. we know he can run past people like against Fulham for the Rooney goal but i dont know. just his mentality i guess. maybe he should play the Scholes role and we get a new forward

still havent given up, chelsea can draw 2 againts Spurs and pool and i suppose if we win both games in that span by 5 combined we are top again. unlikely but since ive been a supporter(97-98) damn near everything we win seems fairytale. both CL finals probably highlight that best. we have had a tough schedule last 2 weeks so maybe a rest will do us good.

Yeah, that story without any quotes written by some journo because United had signed a mexican he's never heard of.

I hate the transfer season. Brings them all out.
