we had a discussion of this in the tottenham thread also. its also posted on http://lanorte.proboards17.com i cant wait for this match..
Rovers to DC in July Since I'm not allowed to delete this post, let me refer you to the thread that I didn't see before I posted: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?postid=976395#post976395 Whose dumb idea is it to not allow me to correct my own error?
Here are some more links: http://www.ananova.com/sport/story/sm_771581.html http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/foo...ers/2956911.stm From the BBC report: "The proposed meeting with DC United - which might attract the interest of local fans with the presence of American international Friedel in the Rovers line-up - would be played at the RFK Stadium in late July. "We've been approached by a third party about a possible Blackburn match, but we've not yet had the opportunity to discuss anything directly with the team," said DC spokesman Doug Hicks. "DC United are interested, however, in pursuing any opportunity that would bring a quality side like Blackburn to RFK Stadium." Let's hope. Got to get the dates so I can plan some vacation around this..
Re: Rovers to DC in July Actually, we decided this because the best way to prevent people from making mistakes is to humilate them for the simple ones they already made! I love to insinuate that posters don't have enough brain power to fully read and understand simple thread titles such as the one about this match. It truly is one of the few perks of being God-Emperor-King-Master-of-Cyberspace-Ruler-of-Bigsoccer! That and squashing trolls...
OK, I'm confused as hell. Was their a thread about this already? I can't find it, maybe I'm just blind. I had heard July 23. It better not be much after that, because I'm out of town July 27 for a week, already planned my vacation!
There was one that was started on April 7th and last posted on back on April 8th, but since it was on page 3 of posts, I don't figure Revelation expected you to find it. https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=42870 The hard time he was jokingly dishing out appeared to be for Seahawkdad.
Yes, someone surreptitiously merged Seahawkdad's HUGE, GLARING, INCOMPETENT GAFF ( ) into your rather correct thread. Have a nice day.
And I'm still chuckling about it...nicely done. It's one nice thing about these boards--it's ok (and sometimes too easy) to do embarrassing things... Sigh--I so much wanted to be first with the news. Anyoway, if the match happens you'll recognize me--the guy in the Rovers' home shirt with the DC United cap and scarf.
FRIEDELFRIEDELFRIEDELFRIEDELFRIEDEL So if the Blackburn Rovers come to RFK that means that Brad Friedel comes to RFK and that means the world's best keeper comes to RFK.... I CAN'T WAIT (if this is true)! IntheNet
Gee, do you think "IntheNet" likes Friedel? Does anyone know the proposed date of the match? July 23?
Re: FRIEDELFRIEDELFRIEDELFRIEDELFRIEDEL Too bad you missed him when he actually played at RFK on a regular basis...but that's the price of being a fair weather fan. Tim
Re: Re: FRIEDELFRIEDELFRIEDELFRIEDELFRIEDEL Well, that was during the time when Columbus couldn't win at RFK, so you can't really blame him, can you? 7/25/97 - DC 2 Columbus 1 (SO) (Brad had 7 saves and even got an assist on a goal by Sneaky Pete Marino) 7/30/97 - DC 4 Columbus 2 (Brad had 5 saves)
TEConnor said: "...but that's the price of being a fair weather fan..." As opposed to you die-hards yes? IntheNet
I've known Tim since the beginning of MLS and DC United and he's there at RFK every home game through the good and the bad.
FRIEDELFRIEDELFRIEDELFRIEDEL IT IS NOW A REALITY....Blackburn Rovers this summer at RFK.............. IntheNet
Another tease... That from Rovers Chief Executive John Williams in This article about Brad not playing in the Confederations Cup in June. Dammit, just announce the damn game so I can buy my tickets!!!
