Just another victory for the good guys, 1-0. As I requested on another thread, a much needed shutout. Undefeated stands the pre-season record.

The score is up on the Black and Whites's board; No details as yet. dcunitedmania.com and kcwizards.com will have more details tomorrow.

Of no particular meaning is KC's 11-1-4 record over the last two pre-seasons. Most impressive this season is the 2-0-1 record this pre vs MLS teams.

Poster Diceson posted that dc "dominated" the entire game and KC merely scored and "hung on for dear life". Adding, "...typical of a BG team".

Idiotic. The last bit I mean. Ceratinly that may have been what happened. Not too farfetched as that's exactly what most MLS games become. Whoever is down one lays siege to goal.

Anyway, hard to blame the guy; overwhelming ignorance is indeed bliss. Elsewhere in the nation, unless you have the SO package it's tough to actually see KC play.

No goals for dc in 3 outings. Great to see the Black and White maintain what's becoming their rightful place at the bottom of the league.

With amends to Roush, screw 'em.

    John Dyson is not "ignorant."

The editorializing aside, I'm willing to trust his analysis of the game unless other evidence presents itself. I've known John for years and he's not just a BigSoccer poster, but has covered DC United closely for years.

    Midwest, the real one.
I think WC was referring to the comment about that being typical BG.

    so arnuad scored?

thats good - i wonder who played, and if we really just got lucky on one goal.

we can win a million preseason games and it doesnt mean anything.

the only thing i am looking for is - how is our B team playing against mls teams.

with four guys gone if we can get results that speaks well of our depth. i didnt expect much before knlein and wolff got back, but so far we are doing well with the backups so that is a good sign.

all power to taylor and detter as goal scorers right now. a week from now i expect to see klein and wolff on the scorers sheet.

and f' the DC page for calling us Kansas. i hate that. i know that they know i hate that so...

    4 games, no "L"s - BRILLIANT!

    Beating dc anytime - BRILLIANT!!!

    :)
    Right.

I wouldn't call Diceson ignorant. His comment, although understandable given the lack of national KC exposure, was. Long-time coverage of one team does not translate to being knowledgable about another team. In this case it didn't translate at all.

I'm sure he's a great guy. I wish we had someone at KCW practice occasionally.
Great point. Makes a guy smile just to think about it!

With Arnaud scoring yesterday that means every healthy offensive type in camp has been on the scoresheet except Jewsbury.

    Not bad.

From The Extreme Nitpicking/Temper The Euphoria Department:

*Preki could use a goal, a pk at least.
    *Armstrong 0 minutes
*No Igor, yet. Anyone know a Senator on the Foreign Relations Cmte.? Can he travel to Portugal?
*No rumor of any Si stud coming in
*The shutout is welcome, but dcu isn't exactly Man U. on the scoreboard.
*You take 3-0-1. It would be even better if it was against SJ and NE instead of college and lesser teams. CLB (who just lost to the US U-17s 2-1) is next and then U-C. Fla. Not sure we'll learn much before the Portugal trip. So far, shorthanded KC is good enough for the level of challenge presented.

I'm sure CLB will be highly motivated v KC. Also their forwards should be a step up in class over those previously seen - Cunny anyway.

Detter scored again, not Arnaud. I have to think this guy has gone a long way into playing his way onto this team. I thought he was a long shot but makes you wonder if he has played his way onto the team and someone like Wolde or Armstrong since there has been no appearance yet by him has played his way off. Detter is that a German name? Coincidence? LOL

looking at the line-ups is interesting. We went with a 3-5-2 for both halfs but had different personel out there.

    Goal keeper
Tony and Bo split time- IMHO there is no competition there.

    Defense
Garcia and Gutierez went both halfs
Thomas and Conrad split halfs- there may be a battle brewing there

    D-mids
Zotinca and Jewsbury both went the full 90- obviously Zavagnin gone is leaving Jewsbuy a chance to play, we are getting a little short on depth there with the loss of Talley.

    Mids
    1st half
Arnaud on the right and Burciaga on the left
    2nd half
Gomez on the right and Walsh on the left

Preki played in both halfs with Alberts subbing in for him

A common theme since Hendo left, Bob is playing around with the left-mid seeing who is going to work. It also tells me that he doesn't know what quite to do with Burciaga with the accquisition of Thomas. I have every bit of faith in Burciaga playing as a left back or even in a left wing position on a 4-4-2, not so much in a 3-5-2.

    Forwards
    Detter went the distance
    Arnaud and Harris split halfs
With Wolff and Simu still with the team this is a good chance to fight to be the first sub at forward.
Detter is on fire right now, the local boy might be getting close securing him a spot on a dev roster spot.

Other thoughts. How come our first round draft pick didn't play?

    Fine by me. :D

I think the plan the whole time was for Igor to join the team in Portugal.

I'm kinda surprised that Hesmer hasn't been spiltting some time to try and challenge Bo for the back up spot. That's just me though.

I wonder if he's fully fit from his injury.
