I would have liked to see Schulz given a game, Hakimi at right back and of course Dahoud instead of Delaney. Delaney is such an average player, but we should still win today comfortably.
I think for the sake of offensive football, we all would have liked to see Dahoud given another chance in a creative and fast acting midfield. But at the moment, I don't fully trust Weigl to carry a major part of the defensive burden in midfield despite having that role in previous seasons and Dahoud not being useless in defense. I can understand the inclusion of Delaney although the game will show whether he was needed in this one. Weigl has opted for a more offensive minded interpretation of his role in this season. Otherwise I would have said Weigl+Delaney is too conservative for this opponent. I also think it's rather the variant with Brandt on the wings which will be interesting to see as he only took off last season after getting a more central position under Bosz.

1:0 Union after a corner for them. What a surprise. At least there were signs that we can create chances against a parked bus. But we need to take more risks now.
Delaney looks ok so far. It looked worrying at first because not only of the inital hit which was bad enough but also hitting his head on the field after coming down. That is a sign he wasn't fully there to protect himself.
1:1 after 45 mins. We need to get more clinical and make less mistakes in offense. There were a couple of easy errors that killed promising attacks. And of course, we remain vulnerable in counter attacks and set pieces. But it's also visible we can find solutions against these defenses. Brandt found another gear towards the end and created two good opportunities that showed what he can offer coming through the middle. This might be another game where we need patience until they get tired. They already looked more vulnerable at the end of the half. Edit: Also, we conceded the goal after a corner that shouldn't have been one. Don't know why VAR didn't interfere. A goal following a wrong decision should always get checked. On the other side, the way Delaney made the tackle, it could have ended in a penalty if it had played out differently.
Delaney is a beast of man. That was a terrible blow and he shrugged it off and came back on. Not much to say really. I feel I am repeating myself. We lack an 8 to link the attack. This has been our problem ever since Gundogan did his back. When he came back, no pun intended, it transformed the team. Also with Brandt playing we need natural width. It's a match for Schulz to give us that natural left footed width on the left. We need to make sure we win this game no matter what.
2:1 Union, so frustrating. Just a long ball forward, a bad clearance and lucky deflection and they are in front of our goal. Great initial save by Bürki but the save falls to Berlin again.
we are so frustrating to watch... Bayern destroys teams like Mainz and we struggle against a new promoted team....
bus is starting to back up for Union and they will likely sit around behind the ball the rest of the match waiting for a chance to find our CBs too far up
Not everything is bad but we look a bit like headless chickens at the moment. Too hectic, not precise enough, bad decisions. This is where we miss Witsel and to a lesser degree Delaney.
20 mins to go. At this point I'd try to add Schulz. Hakimi has barely shown anything but his side looks deserted because Brandt rather tends towards the middle.
