    ..aka 'Not vs. Elend'.

According to the official Werder site, this will be our squad for the match, no idea who will start yet:

Wiese, Vander, Boenisch, Pasanen, Naldo, Tosic, Baumann, Vranjes, Fritz, Rosenberg, Özil, Tziolis, Frings, Almeida, Niemeyer, Mertesacker, Harnik, Perthel

Despite its importance, I don't expect much from this match. Maybe I should, because the team only performed against the 'big guns' so far this season. But the disappointment about the Bielefeld match is still there, and we still can't play Diego and especially Pizarro.

    Whatever, good luck lads.

Maybe today, our one touch football which i saw the players where trying to do in the game vs Bielefeld, will work better against a team that will try to attack more. My thoughts are mixed before this game but i sure hope we get a positive result.

The starting XI was just announced:

    -------------Wiese--------------
    Fritz-Mertesacker-Naldo-Boenisch
    ------------Baumann------------
    Frings---------------------Tziolis
    --------------Özil---------------
    -------Almeida--Rosenberg-------

Subs: Vander, Niemeyer, Pasanen, Tosic, Vranjes, Perthel, Harnik

Good to see Tosic benched, finally! Boenisch simply can't be worse. Hope that both Özil and Boenisch will be extra motivated against their ex-club.

Werder with the better start so far. The team looks aggressive and highly motivated, no real chances yet though.

Naldo with the second dangerous header after a corner. Surprisingly, our corners look actually good today.

Oh, yeah, Marcel "i hat Werder, because my mother gave me too much spinach" Reif is the commentator.

It stands for the quality and the downfall of cultural level, that this
idiot got a Grimme price for commentating. I could also commentate
like him. Pick a club, praise them to heaven and making jokes of the
other team. I hope we win like in Munich, because then this man
gets angry and fires against his favorite teams.

Stupid Premiere to pay this b***** money for this.
    Fire this c*** s*****.

    ---

Boring match so far, but Schalke couldn´t complain about a penalty
against them. Bordons hand mustn´t be in Almeidas face at the penalty area.

    0-0 HT

It's obvious that both teams are afraid to lose, but I don't think anyone expected champagne football from this match anyway, considering the situation both clubs are in ("Not vs. Elend" indeed).

At least we look surprisingly solid defensively. Can't say if this has more to do with the toothless Schalke attack though.

Hopefully, we'll see a more interesting second half. Frings has been very dsiappointing again, unfortunately, we don't have many alternatives left on the bench...

Höwedes scores a header for Schalke after a (totally unnecessary) free kick. 1-0 Schalke.

FFS Rosenberg, how could you miss that? Rosenberg misses a great chance after a great dribbling by Özil. He should have let Özil shoot himself.

Rosenberg's passiveness and laxness really pisses me off. 'Pomadig' is the German word for it.

    I'm tired of mediocrity.

So do Frings' absolutely horrible, just HORRIBLE corners. He should never take them again. Ever.

It would be nice if we were a bit more lucky for a change. That's the third time Naldo comes close to scoring a header.

Pasanen for Boenisch, who came very close to be sent off.

And another good chance for Naldo...

WTF is Schaaf doing? Niemeyer for Naldo, who actually was one of the better players today?

Maybe he thinks if someone else gets all the shots Naldo had they would have put them in?

Just sad, sad to see us being so harmless against such a weak Schalke side.

We lost today three points, because we were the better team.

Such matches are sad, but it´s a performance to build on.

If the team continues fighting like this better results will come.

    hackespitze123:
The Niemeier for Naldo change was not performance based,
it was because Naldo was coming back from injury.

    Schalke - Werder 1-0 FT

I didn't expect anything from this match, but it's still just sad to see how awful we have become. Schalke were terrible, but we still could not even score one goal against them.

Still denying that we are in the relegation battle? Allofs and Schaaf are both to blame for this mess, for the reasons discussed umpteen times already. If this shit continues, heads have to roll. Yesterdays' success means shit today.
