Johnsen scored his tenth of the season today in a 3-1 win, taking their win streak to four and moving Torpedo Kutaisi into second place. Small league, but about ten goals in about 17 matches.
Can't stop, won't stop scoring. 7th minute penalty for Johnsen is the only goal of the match as they extend their win streak to five. 11 goals in 18 matches (approximately).
Johnsen returns to European action, and scores immediately in Albania. This is first round Conference League qualifying.
Johnsen and Torpedo Kutaisi advanced into the second round of Conference League qualifying, visiting Omonia today. Omonia was the playing home of Mix Diskerud from '21-23.
You'd think Maars would put down roots on Earth at some pt. He's had the most nomadic career I can recall. Can't be a millionaire playing in Georgia. It's not Atlanta or Atalanta. + there's the unrest. League One would be a good destination for him culturally & competitively. He'd fit the Wrexham project, for example. But it's probably even harder for a guy like him to get a work permit than before.
Saw that Bjorn scored a penalty today. Looked at the matches since the last post here - he's scored in SIX straight matches and the club have won four in a row to go top of the table. Quite a run.
Bjorn with a brace today against Telavi in a 2-1 win; one was a penalty. SEVEN straight matches with a goal.
Bjorn hadn't scored all month, failing to tally in two whole straight matches, but ends that drought in stoppage time today to finish off a 2-0 win. One point down in the title race with six to play.
Johnsen scores in the season finale, as Torpedo Kutaisi finish in second place in Georgia. Brings his all comps goal tally to at least 25. He's on a deal with an option for another year; TBD on whether that gets exercised, as far as I know.
Bjorn has left Torpedo Kutaisi. With 23 goals to lead the league (25 all comps), it's clear he can still score at some reasonable pro level, but I haven't seen that he's signed anywhere.
