It seems you could use the 2008 roster as the basis for an all bizzaro team. My all time favorite bizarro player was that South American savior: Eduardo Dominguez. Some of you may disagree, but I look at the Jovan Kirovski of 2009 as a bizarro player. I recall Bruce putting him in at midfield and it seemed he just walked around in the center circle. I also think that Josh Tudela and Mike Randolph belong on the list as well.
Nonsense he had two good shots, it takes a special kind of skill to score a PK off the back of a goal keeper.
His career with the Galaxy is so totally epic. It's a legend of monumental proportions. We lived it, but I still can't believe it happened.
Yes Josh Tudelo, the headless chicken, has to be on the list. And I agree on Mr. Walkabout Jovan-who-cost-us-an-MLS-Cup Kirovski as well. If I remember correctly Mike Randolph looked good for about one game but that turned out to be his peak and it was all downhill from there. In fact as has already been alluded to about 3/4 of our 2008 team qualifies for this list. I used to cringe in embarrassment when I saw Becks make a picture perfect pass to some of those players and the inevitable comic-tragedy that ensued.
Apparently, we can create two Bizarro teams... One from all the wacky players we got from '96 to '07, and one composed entirely of players Ruud and Alexi signed/drafted in '08....
I would say Colin Clark is knocking on the door. Or is his crossing and blistering slowness still too much for this team.
I agree. He's the David Tyree of MLS. Remembered for one shining moment and that moment only. The moment is big enough that the rest is forgotten.
Blasphemy! Josh "The Pele of Evansville" Tudela was highly sought after by several Romanian league teams, was he not?
You remember El Tanque Hurtado? Of whom it was said he got the name El Tanque because he was not as fast as he seemed.
I checked this thread to see if "Passback" Pete Vagenas would be the captain, or just a starting MF. Can't believe there have been so many bad players that he doesn't even make this list.
The 2005 roster is almost a biazarro team on it;'s own. How the heck did these guys win MLS Cup? 2005 LOS ANGELES GALAXY ROSTER NO. While I didn't follow the Galaxy that much in 2005, I would assume its because most of the guys below, formed a pretty decent line-up. Of course their coach was a handicap.
Because Pete had many good and productive years for us. Coming out of school and slotted into Sigi's system, Pete was an important and valuable cog in some very good teams. Did you know he was the designated PK taker on the US Olympic squad? It is so easy to forget (and some never knew) that it was only after Sigi got booted and under other coaches that Pete did not work as well. Even then, he was LAG through and through and was part of the locker room soul that held together in tough time. "Passback Pete" is so easy to say if you only saw him at the end, and so totally unfair a way to mock an otherwise important career. There simply is no way he belongs anywhere close to the bizarro squad.
How should we remember the great Cornell Glen? Is he a folk legend for his one awesome game against Chivas USA...or is he worthy of a spot on the injured list of this Bizarro Galaxy team?
